Back to the 4-2-3-1 .Bamford played the 10 role superbly, after a rocky start we then took control against a physical side on the up but not top end championship, well done Blades and we'll done to Wilder on his tactics today .

I suppose you can say it was a game of two half’s but it would be very generous the class that first half half as “a game”

Second half was better, we weren’t scintillating by any means but at least we put the pressure on higher up the pitch and actually threaded a few forward passes rather than side to side and backwards like in the first half.

Has it answered all the questions and resolved all the problems?….. No..

But it’s a win and 3 points and that was badly needed in the circumstances

No egg on face, didn't go today so can't comment on how we played, still happy with the result.

Doesn't change my opinion that wilder isn't the manager to take us forward and is probably doing more long term damage than good.

Not sure why it's so problematic to some that people can celebrate a good result yet doubt the manager, it's not binary!

Does paper over the problems chum
The problems being we've got a mediocre squad, a plodding midfield and little to no pace. Not much prospect of that improving given our financial circumstances.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion but
some of the comments before a ball had been kicked today were embarrassing and pathetic.

Haven't read through the whole thread but I thought Lincoln were a difficult team to play against and their up it and at em style was relentless. Despite someone behind us moaning about Canon throughout - I thought he had a good game - as did Rothwell and B Diaz.
Perhaps lucky to take the lead but took over in 2nd half

Yep looks like we've found our no 10 without spending any money. We really need big Pat to keep fit.

It isn’t a mediocre squad by any measure. We’ve got a top ten budget.

If we can consistently raise our levels that second half we’ll be fine for mid table. If we put in more performances like that first half against better teams we’ll be in trouble.

Good performances from Cannon, cooper & Tanganga but Chong was absolutely woeful.

A lot of the first half was still poor, once they started actually passing to each other it was good. Chong's only good performances have always been on the left, so hopefully we build on the good bits.

Main moan of today was the commentary, after the triple sub at the end, it said Burrows was back in the thick of the action after missing a few months, even though the subs were One, Campbell and Riedewald.

I thought we were making sure we’d got the middle of the pitch sorted for the first 15 mins so we could deal with the clearances from Lincoln’s long ball (if that wording makes sense) BBD and Rothwell looked far fitter than previously. Only real criticism is that we still tended to go backwards too much when other options were available. Never thought we were bossed though, kicked all over yes. Great result, hopefully confidence booster for everyone involved. Wilder got it right today.

ive said in perfect world i hope we can survive & we give wilder a farewell in may & we move on

i dont how up you are on F1, but wilder at sheff utd is alot like newey at red bull. everyone is terrified of him leaving

I was beginning to despair first half until the goal but second half was good mostly.
Three excellent goals, top class volley by Bamford for the third.
Not sure how Rothwell missed his chance.
Ref was a bit dodgy yet gain..

Couple of quid on Ogbene to score or assist at near 2/1. Mentioned in another thread that I watched their game in the Mickey Mouse away to Bournemouth, and while not knowing how strong a Lincoln line up it was on the night, he was their stand out player. Seems inevitable
Hope you didn't put your house on this!

3 goals, 3 points and a load of melts with egg on their face.
Happy Saturday Blades!
Egg on faces? Give over.

Really happy with the 3 points, second half was steady stuff and took our chances.

Lincoln were poor, if they'd had anything about them they would have put us to the sword in the first half. The surprised me at how one dimensional they were.

We ground out a win by simply having better individual players.

I saw nothing today that makes me think we're going to go on a decent run, or that will change the pattern of the season.

For those having digs at those who were pessimistic pre second half, can you tell me today what you saw that makes you feel optimistic for a prolonged decent run and competing at top half of the table?

Great post. But lost on many.

I think that just about nails the game I saw

We ground out a win - 3 - 0. Yeah, right! FFS

Do you have anything of substance to post? Or is it just replying to anyone who dares not be all rainbows and unicorns?

At least lots of us can substantiate why we feel like we do, all the counter arguments just seem to be 'well we won today' so that solves everything.

Yes, I would class today as grinding out a win. An utterly embarrassing first half followed by a solid and composed one. We didn't set the division alight. Lincoln were league 1 level.

You have been critical of United since around 9 am today. Even before the bloody team was announced. Then whinging about the team and then throughout the first half and then disappeared..... again. Find something else to occupy yourself. You'll give yourself health problems worrying about things before they occur. Is there enough substance there or would you like more guidance on your potential problems?

Why are people on here so unhappy tonight?

Admittedly we should have come away with at least 5 points instead of just 3, scored 9 goals, and played 5 current academy players

But suppose a win is a win, right?
Correct. Im happy tonight, lets savour the win eh.
