Danny Rohl - Very capable manager at this level, hated by Wednesday, what's not to like.

Steve Cooper - Possibly the only manager worse with money than Wilder - but less of an issue with the transfer window closed. Good pick.

Kevin Muscat - 2 x A-League winner, J-League winner, Chinese Super League winner. Clearly capable of communicating his winning style of play. Also a bit of a nutter.

Robbie Keane - Demolished the Israeli league with Maccabi Tel Aviv, moved to Hungary, demolished the NB 1 with Ferencváros.

Ben Wilkinson - Manages Man City's Elite Development Squad (position previously held by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and Brian Barry-Murphy, currently leading League One with Cardiff. Sheffield boy who used to be in our youth team.
I might be wrong here but I’m certain Cooper was given players and told to make it work at Forest when they got promoted, so you can’t really say he’s no good with a transfer fund.

He left on very good terms. The door's not completely shut, and they know there's a point at which they'd have to accept the experiment's failed. ;)
I have no problem with Selles going, it's not worked.

I just don't get the "yes man" stuff.

As it stands, Steve Cooper has more votes than the other candidates combined (170 / 324).

Hopefully the Board are looking in.

It's just an opinion and might not be correct. But I'm certain Wilder was under pressure to follow instructions, didn't play ball and got sacked. It naturally follows that they're not going to allow that to happen with his successor, in my opinion.

My opinion is more that he was never getting 90+ points again with that style of play without a large £££ investment in the squad, and keeping everyone. So they tried to find a way of getting better without spending and decided a manager like Selles might do it.

1) Dave Challinor
2) John Mousinho
3) Nathan Jones

All would be better option than Gary O'Neil.. but I have a feeling it's gonna be O'Neil anyway

I don't think the owners will be looking at the forum because they know better than the fans or at least they think they do because at the end of the day it is our club and always will be regardless of who owns the club but we are powerless sorry

I don't think those opinions are mutually exclusive.

Wilder, Sausage, Mousinho, Cooper for me. I can't see the board having the humility to reappoint CW unfortunately.

I know we are very angry as a fan base, but to humiliate the manager and players today was wrong. It is all down to those knobheads COH, I do not want Wilder back, we need to move on, but to bring in someone who has never had success at this level was naïve, at best.
These are business men, their newly purchased asset is rapidly depreciating in value, they are ruthless , ask Wilder. I think a decision will be made quickly.
The real downside, is that if you are a player we have bid for, would you want to come here now??????

So that rules him out

In my opinion with my limited experience/knowledge:

1. Liam Rosenior - Talk about 'missing the boat'! One or two of us on here suggested this before we gave Wilder the last contract. Didn't want Wilder back then and definitely don't wand him back now. Unfortunately, no chance LR comes now unless COH offers him the world to leave Strasbourg, but why would he?
2. Steve Cooper - Excellent coach but something tells me he just doesn't want to come here.
3. Dave Challinor - Would be interesting but is this job too big for him given the expectations? Dangerous.

I've just seen him walk upto the fans.
I believe in him.
Give him time, the players and the weeks to get them to gel.
Pin me.
That's the only positive you can give him. He can take criticism other than that he didn't change that midfield in all 4 games and from that it's probably best we find someone knew

When news first started to break earlier in the Summer that Wilder was to leave, Gary O'Neil was the first name linked (if memory serves me right anyway!)

At the time, that prospect filled me with dread - a mixture of not wanting Wilder gone and being underwhelmed by a twice sacked far from box office name coming in......

After 2 and a half months of the nightmare Selles experiment, the mere thought of Gary O'Neil coming in feels like utter paradise, and I would welcome him with open arms.

One thing is for certain, Selles is done - nothing more than a glorified PE Teacher, it's been excruciating.

We also need to be incredibly realistic, we aren't going to get a big name - we aren't a particularly enticing prospect at present and we'll be paying 2 ex managers off in quick succession/concurrently so probably can't afford a Dyche type (as much as I'd be in favour).

Why is Wilder back not an option because many would chose that in a poll?

I can't believe Michael Carrick is on the list but not Wilder back. I'd still go for Dave Challinor over anyone on the list, then Dyche, then Wilder back, then Rohl. I'm not a Steve Cooper fan but I appreciate I'm in the minority here. When he does well with a low budget and average players for the league he's in then fair enough.

Realistically, we'll probably not go for Dyche or he won't come, same with cooper and Wilder. COH won't know who Dave Challinor is neither and so I can't see that one. So from your list and realistic managers it's got to be Danny Rohl. The last ex Wendy called Danny didn't do too bad job in my view!

I remember vividly sticking up for Wilson when he was appointed and I got dogs abuse but it was on Blades Mad then!

Mousinho has worked with a Director of Football at Pompey since he went there. The vast majority of managers work with, or have worked within a club structure including a Director of Football. Yet we still continue to go down the road of "Sheffield United knows best", I personally believe that is because we have a CEO who hasn't got a clue how a modern, forward thinking club should be run. Bettis is the number one constant under 2 owners (not including McCabe) who I believe is holding the club back. He constantly maintains "radio silence" treating supporters, who are the heart beat of the club like mushrooms - "keep them in the dark and feed them shite", only problem is we don't even get fed shite!!! Of course he has even more power now having been elevated to the board. Doesn't matter which manager/coach we may see replace Selles there is still no "modern" club structure in place.

My issue is with his transfer activity at Leicester
