Signing him means we would be putting money towards the pigs' escape from FFP

Fuck that

Good player.

But he's injured, and he's a bellend.

It would be desperate from us. But we're only Sheffield United, so I suppose we are desperate. But Wednesday are equally desperate, to offload.

Maybe we've just spotted an opportunity to get a potential 20 goal striker on the cheap, and are prepared to put his bellendery and helping Wednesday to one side.

If fit, he'd kick footballs into nets for us, regular, that's for sure.

Necessary thread, have read twice, will again

Biggest worry here is he’s unlikely to be of any use until the new year!

Out until October and would need at least a few months to get his fitness and preseason in. And that’s even if he was the same player he was before injury.

Whiff of desperation here imo. Hopefully some sort of smoke screen to force another move one way or the other.

Can't see how we've made an inquiry, other than to see if he is fit and presumably available? If its true that he'd not fit until September then I can't see how he gets past his medical unless he's not match fit, but is generally fit. Either way its obviously a gamble toi sign someone who is currently not available, unless the injury is a smokescreen and Winnall wants out and/or Wednesday aren't keen on him and his injury is not as bad as some have reported.

As for him as a player I'd welcome him. Decent in the air, decent finisher, would have a point to prove and has a decent scoring record and did well at Derby. As Dave Bassett said you don't sign players to marry your daughter you sign them to do a job for you and nothing more. If he steps out of line the likes of Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke would soon let him know I'm sure! All of these reports of him being this and that are just speculation and Wilder won't sign a bad egg I'm sure.

I would expect CW to enquire about available strikers and Winnall not being an exception. However, when they told him Winnall was out until at least November with an ACL injury (and who knows how he will come back from that) I also expect CW to have said thanks and goodbye

Whereas Clough would have raised his offer.

I'd take Winnall, better bet than fucking Rhodes.

He's apparently a total cnut and out injured. If this is where we're shopping then desperation has kicked in.

I could be wrong, but isn't Winnall rumoured to be a bit of an arsehole, who has a reputation for bullying the younger lads at whatever club he's at ?

Or did I dream that?

This was when he was at Barnsley North

Just shows how strange transfer business can be,did'nt they call the deal off at the weekend, sure someone on here said it would be a bargaining ploy, sure was.

Allegedly halved the loan fee that Norwich had to pay.

A good proven striker on the cheap because Wednesday are desperate to sell. Rob Staton reckons he’ll be back in September so he will only miss a few games of the season. Good deal for us I’d say, a calculated and relatively low risk gamble. Gerrimin.

Probably didn’t dream it, more likely you read it on one of the other 12 threads ;)
