So, Nixon has tweeted that some tomorrow's stories will include one about us.

Now I know some people go two footed on the bloke and don't believe owt he says.

But my gripe is - why do local journalists never get ahead of the game or do digging on potential signings? They only ever pick the story up once it's out of the bag.

I know FH Team and Danny Hall read these forums, so wondering if they could comment? Are they bound by the club not to report sone stuff etc.

Agent's will be feeding stories to the likes of Nixon to generate interest in their player / force selling club's hand in negotiations.

With respect, local journalists don't have the same reach.

Take the point.

But why wouldn't local journalists, who might have ambitions of progressing to national levels like some have done previously, be making concerted efforts to bring something new to the reporting.

Surely local outlets should be the go too place for news on the club.

It will probably just be an article about Barrie signing and then one or two other rumours. Possible further speculation on Hamer and Cooper. Nothing to get excited about I suspect.

Nixon’s been around since the 80’s. Got great relationships. He’s not really connected with United. Very heavily connected in the north west. Bolton, Blackburn, Burnley etc.

I've not trusted a word Alan Nixon has said since he claimed we were on the verge of buying Forestieri from the grunters for £15mil in the first Wilder prem season.

Not only was Forestieri dogshit (even in comparison to some of the dross we did end up buying!) But he was also a bad-tempered, racist dwarf in the last year of his contract.

If he was prepared to commit to such blatant bullshit for rage-clicks then, I don't see any value in what he says now.

Knows sweet fa about SC Freiburg

I don’t think it’ll be anything that isn’t out there already.

He gets fed snippets from agents that very rarely come true.

When he’s wrong he just puts a spin on things like ‘oh I thought that might happen because …’ then if anyone calls him out for bullshitting he just blocks you and moves on.

Seems to be very little leaking out of the club at the moment which is a good thing!

Agree, I said when there were rumours of Wilder being sacked at least one of the Football heaven team should have been at the ground 24/7 , same with star reporters, but they seem to want to be big buddies with the managers and don't ask serious questions in case they avoid them in future,

Old Nautilus Hummingbird used to have the inside track as well. The problem for local journo’s this summer is it’s the first summer with a new ownership group and completely new staff so unless they have a relationship with Bettis they’re unlikely to get much inside info they’ll need to time to establish relationships. It’s an interesting point though about whether they would get the opportunity to build relationships with some of the agencies which represent quite a few players for local clubs.

Danny Hall broke quite a lot exclusively when Wilder was here….

Doesn’t seem to be happening anymore though 🤔
Didn't someone mention on here a few weeks ago (around the time Bindon signed) that the board have made it clear that anyone caught leaking information (transfers etc) would be in serious danger of losing their job.

Something to do with the new board trying to run a tight ship in regards to transfers and such.

Would explain why the likes of Danny Hall, Jimmy Ramble, Radio Sheff journos, Biggs and SU Way aren't breaking many rumours this summer, probably aren't hearing anything from their sources.

Bindon signing came out of nowhere, Barry wasn't mentioned by Giddings until it was clear he was coming here, the Bulgarian kid (Polendakov) only leaked because he posted a picture on his Instagram.

To do what exactly? They’re only going to get stonewalled.

On the OP, Football Heaven aren’t there to drive gossip clicks and respond to largely dubious rumours. They do what they do, local interviews, puff pieces that appeal to the general fanbase.
Nixon needs the clicks as it’s what keeps him getting paid. Completely different model.

Pissing off the local club by getting info out that the club may want to keep quiet is probably a bad idea in that job
