Ramsdale--our worst signing ever?

Ramsdale was a big risk especially at that price and unfortunately at this stage it looks to have back fired. I've no doubt he will have a decent career in the top two divisions but we needed a cool experienced head to come in at GK if we weren't getting Hendo back.

I don't buy into this buying for the Championship and future nonsense we've paid £18 million for a goalkeeper that should go into the first team and improve us. This rubbish about going down and coming back up why not just stay up in the first place? He hasn't really done anything above and beyond what Moore would have done. Henderson won us points on his own last season and I just don't see Ramsdale doing that. I hope I'm proved wrong as he's a young Sheffield lad but he's heading for two relegations in two years at this stage.

I have to agree, but one thing our fans don't seem to acknowledge is that Hendo's big wage iincrease ruled out a move to us, most likely. Also, Ramsdale didn't cost £18m, more like £12 from what the local press were saying, I recall.

In hindsight, a wonderful thing, I'd have preferred Blackman on loan from Chelsea; he was better at comanding his area and a decent shot stopper. We could have then spent the majority of the Ramsdale money on a midfielder, something I desperately wanted. But again, Wilder also wanted a midfielder, but we only got linked with Swift publicly, but there were sureely others. It seemed we centrered our focus on up top and buying Breswter. I'm convinced in time he'll prove to be great; sadly right now he's had a slow start.

Brewster isn't the problem. If we had anything of a co-ordinated midfield and a system of delivery into space to allow him even half a chance, he'd have had a netful by now. Instead we are stuck with the Keystone Cops in the middle of the park. None of them know how to carve up the centre of the park and lay in a pass to feet or cross to the head, or goddam it crack it at goal.

And twelve quid for Rammers? Still say they had our kecks down.

I agree re midfield, that's where most of our problems are. I do think though that Berge is playing well, almost every week, but he's not helped that there is little creativity or bite to our midfield, and in essence he has to do several roles such as the playmaker, the hold up link man and provide creativity and drive through midfield. Many will say he's supposed to do all of those, but since Fleck and Norwood are way below their best, it means that Berge is overburdened with too much to do. If he was playing for a better side this season I'm convinced Berge would be making headlines for how good a player he is, and he's done that to degree with us, but because we're losing every week he hasn't got that exposure as much, but there has been the link to Arsenal.

I agree re Brewster. My hope is we sign a midfielder with bite and/or creativity this January, ship out Lunny and go from there.

I was disappointed we ear marked a striker as the main priority rather than a creative midifielder when we went for Brewster. Given that our left side is dead and nothing goes through the middle it was critical we tried to find new areas to score from. Pleased we have Brewster but currently we can't create the chances for him.

Agree about Berge. He's a fine player and wasn't bought for his creative abilities - his natural role is the deep central position he played for Genk - which allowed him to find space and drive up the pitch.

I can't see how Ramsdale is getting /he blame for Fleck giving the ball away and Vardy has beaten every top keeper in the country on one on one situations.

Goalies are an easy target but our problem all stems from shot conversion

We are a fith as good at finishing as we were last season
If we'd converted at the same rate as last season we'd be mid table

Er.....look what Chelski got for £72m, a 26 year old nightmare keeper who they have had to replace for another £22m !
I'll stick with Rammers thanks !

Hello, Stegosaurus, here.

Is Ramsdale our worst signing ever?

18 million for a goalie who cant deal woth crosses, continuously looks a bag of nerves and, worryingly, can't dive. He just flops to the ground. If a shot is remotely towards the corner, its in. Ill grant him, his reactions are good if the shot is near him. But, he's pretty useless.

18 million. That makes him, I believe, in the top 20 most expenaive goalies of all time. Bournemouth had Wilder's pants down with this one.

For me, given the cost and the fact we needed that money to strengthen in other areas has to put him as our worst ever signing.
Your on the Rhodes to nowhere with this one.
Head Westwood towards the Woods and you will find a Pressman who ate all the pies 🐷

Name some, please, and tell us why.

He can't reply to that with the names he's thinking of because, the "We've" in that comment refers to Wendy.. As he's a Wendy on the wind up mate, another delusional porky distracting himself from his own teams failures by "performing" on this forum.

They're looking league one bound, even with 6 points gifted them back, they know it's route one frankenstien football being orchestrated by the next failure manager, due to be sacked in the end for being a has been that's past his sell by date, Pulis in secret probably wants one last payday, at least Carlos had the guts to stand toe to toe with us and try to play football, we wiped the fucking floor with them of course and yeah it finished him mentally as a manager because he'd swallowed the same bullshit about the club that stegoprick has.

That's their problem, the teams wank and they're renowned thieves and cheats, they have been for years and years.. They blubber on about anything whilst refusing to look inward for thier real problems, that they're cheats and a poor excuse for a club, and until they accept that, they'll never get anywhere near what we've done under wilder.

The fans I know that shout the most about them don't even fucking go to games.. This WUM will be one of them, sat on the settee at 3pm Saturday..

Exactly why I asked him the question.

Is this the first time we have had a keeper play for England ? I know its a bit of a cheat in that he already did before coming to us but just wondered. He is young and can only get better.

You obviously never saw Jordan Stewart play

The problem for Ramsdale would have been a problem for any keeper coming in after Hendo.

When you are trying to replace the best keeper in the country, you are always going to be pulled up on the smallest of mistakes and your performances are going to be scrutinised by fans and pundits alike, probably a little unfairly.

I don’t think he’s been as bad as some fans make him out to be, he’s not even Wilders worst signing, let alone

Say we never spent 18m on a keeper and gave the ones we already have a chance. And we are still sitting at bottom. Then yes get a new keeper, but we spent 18m on a keeper we let go for pennies and doesn't look like he's worth half of 18m.
18m is shit loads to us so all you sayin he's worth it, need to give your heads a wobble.

I can name worse signings in terms of ability..

Dean Hammond
Marlon King
Luton Shelton
Nyron Nosworthy

etc...

Ive wobbled my head and yes he is still worth it!!

Ramsdale is a quality keeper for his age and will only get better, 18m is standard for an established Premier league goalkeeper who is the England u21 goalkeeper tbh this isn't 1990

And we only paid like 12mil anyway due to the sell on clause and payments still owed for brooks

He wasn't a premier league goalkeeper when we got him.

When you have seen the likes of Conor Sammon and Michael Higdon pull on the red and white of Sheffield United then you don't get too upset by Ramdale's inconsistent performances.

No he had only played 36 premier league games!! What makes him a prem player 100 games! Did a full season cockend
Oh right so Bournemouth didn't get relegated🤔🤔
Yes they did, which made him a championship goalkeeper. Has for cockend that's a low blow from a cocksucker.

His teemu puki a prem striker? Or does he play for a championship team. He played a full season in prem too.

Poor Ramsdale looks destined to be the Nathan Blake for Hermann Hreidarsson of goalkeepers.
