Ramsdale--our worst signing ever?

Every game is attack v defence so the GK is facing a firing squad he’s a decent shot stopper I think he needs to work on his handling from crosses etc but there’s far worse problems than him

Why are prats coming on here blaming Ramsdale.?? We did not have an attempt on Goal in 94 minutes FFS!! He was the bloke still feeling it at the end urging the lads on and shouting encouragement. Stegsi piss off to where you came from
No one's blaming him, just saying it how it is. He's shit don't know why prats can't see it. Even stevie wonder would agree.

Bournemouth chap here, in peace and goodwill I come HO HO HO! :D Ramsdale was good for us last season, very good. He was not the reason we were relegated, Fraser downing tools, Wilson had a bad season too, probably though the biggest reason was Brooks didn't play a minute until the restart. He would have got say 4 or 5 goals supplied the forwards who would have scored a few more, we would have got 5 or 6 points and hey! we stay up! :D I would think you had a top keeper in Henderson and everything Ramsdale does is judged against him.

Another new member!!!

Another new member!!
Thought it was that good you had to say it twice...Isn't nobody aloud to say what they think on here without being called a pig or oh he's a new member? Do you think Chris just pats the player's on the back if they've played shit? Play good, get rated. Play shit get slated. It happens all over the world so piss off and stick to playing fortnite if you don't like it.

We are indeed fortunate to have so many qualified goalkeeping coaches amongst our fans.
I am, level 2 currently taking my level 3 (uefaB) and work for a step3 non league club. A lot wrong with Ramsdale, makes a lot of questionable decisions and doesn’t seem to have confidence in himself at the moment

however what I will say is he’s young, played relatively little football, but inc Utd and Bournemouth he’s something daft like 40 games since his last clean sheet

while he isn’t our most pressing problem. I think we’ve overpaid on him when you look into it

Hi, Stegosaurus here

Yes, he is. 10 - 18 million of turd
He is, and Henderson was great in ‘ no pressure’ games. But as soon as he needed his brain to join in, he was a disaster. I suppose he was well loved as he dropped the odd ‘I love been a blade’ tweet out. He’d be all over the place in this team!!

Q) Is Ramsdale our worse signing ever?
A) No.
I'd like to welcome you to your first season as a Blade and assure you since I started in 1971 we've signed far worse players.
We've even signed worse keepers who played at a lower level on free transfers.

He's not the worst signing ever but is definitely not the best. Only Villa and Norwich conceded more goals than Bournemouth did last season - with Ramsdale in goal. We haven't kept a clean sheet this season.
His job is to be screaming and shouting at his defenders and telling them what to do and where to be and it begs the question about his level of understanding about defending.
Shot stopping is one thing but organising the defence so the shots don't come in the first place is the test.

Ramsdale alongside McBurnie and Brewster are endemic to our problem - pissing away the best part of £70m on players who prior to us signing them have played 2 and a half full seasons of football between the three of them. Talk about gambles that haven't paid off

We’ve currently got seven full time professional goalkeepers on the payroll, Ramsdale, Moore, Foderingham, Verrips, Eastwood, Dewhurst and Amissah?

It’s a ridiculous situation really with just two teams that they’re eligible to play for? The club need to do a complete rethink about our future recruitment policy because there appears to be very little thought or professional analysis going into it currently?

When we go down or even in January, I can see a huge clear out happening in this department. Why we ever bought Foderingham and Verrips will remain one of the great unsolved mysteries for generations to come 🤷🏻‍♂️

Too many levels in that missive.

Hi, you know who here,

Worth giving this a bump after that shambles. At fault for 2, flopped for one.

Hello, Stegosaurus, here.

Is Ramsdale our worst signing ever?

18 million for a goalie who cant deal woth crosses, continuously looks a bag of nerves and, worryingly, can't dive. He just flops to the ground. If a shot is remotely towards the corner, its in. Ill grant him, his reactions are good if the shot is near him. But, he's pretty useless.

18 million. That makes him, I believe, in the top 20 most expenaive goalies of all time. Bournemouth had Wilder's pants down with this one.

For me, given the cost and the fact we needed that money to strengthen in other areas has to put him as our worst ever signing.
Not our worst signing but certainly a doubtful signing, on the evidence so far. What I can't understand is that, with him being our product, we knew what he was like.
Added to your list is the fact that he struggles with catching the ball.
Still I don't know who else was available at the time. Chris probably thought he was the one with PL experience and other promising keepers couldn't be trusted to step up from lower divisions. He took a gamble with Brewster; he's far from impressed me at the moment, I just hope he turns out to be value. We can't afford to nurture too many inexperienced players in our current position.

Hello, Stegosaurus here,

I think there were better and cheaper options---Foster, for example wouldn't have cost much. Southampton loaned Angus Gunn out who would have been another option. Or even drop down to the Championship--Cabral at Reading or Raya Martin from Brenford would have been good, cheaper options.

At this point it's just sad, and another case why we shouldn't just buy a young keeper because he's english...

Hi Stegosaurus here,

Time for a bump I think given Rammers keeps dropping clangers

We’ve been spoilt with Henderson who was super confident even when dropping the odd clanger Ramsdale is just not premier league quality

Needs dropping.
His retention in the first team must be having a knock on effect in the dressing room. If us fans, media and commentators are starting to notice this then sure as hell the players will be....
