I’m a bit of a Twitter Luddite, I can see his profile but not his apology or any of the furore around him. How do you see all that stuff?

I skimmed over a few of this kid's tweets, to see what other philanthropic contributions he was making to our society

I had a look at his Twitter feed when someone first mentioned it in the shoutbox yesterday. His entire feed was full of calling girls "slags", men "nonces" and wishing everyone and anyone "gets cancer".

10/20 tweets a day of that nature, going back months (maybe years?), aimed at completely different people (sometimes blades, oftentimes just complete random strangers). The mind boggles at how anyone can think anything like that is ever acceptable, let alone for that to be the only thing you post, multiple times per day!

I'm sure as he was posting all this shit he thought it was funny or clever or made him feel like he had some sort of twisted power over people. He's probably not finding it so funny/clever this morning now the alcohol/Colombian marching powder has worn off and he's been outed.

His address got posted on a Blades facebook group last night. Then someone posted a photo of his house. Someone else posted a link to his mother's Facebook profile.

He apparently got quite a lot of pizzas, taxis and what not, and his mum got lots of messages saying her son was a scumbag. Some people were talking about going around his house and giving him a slap.

(I don't particularly agree with doing any of the above, just relaying what was said).

I struggle to see the positives of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The negatives far outweigh the positives in my opinion.

I’ve managed to meet people and maintain relationships without any of those social media sites in my life. Socialising isn’t looking at a website!

If you’ve never been on them then you can’t really speak about any benefit they may have. You can’t really call yourself an expert on a foreign country if you’ve never been there.

Why should they be closed down just because of a few idiots ?
Millions of people us them and enjoy them, the percentage of idiots that post such crap is relatively small compared to the actual amount of users.
You might not use them or get them, and in the case of Twitter i dont,i can never understand what's being said.
But punish the person that saying vile things not the majority that enjoy using these sites even if you don't.

I would counter that the percentage of people (not always as you put it, idiots) post utter shite on Facebook is far greater than the number of users that use it as it was originally designed for, especially in the UK!
Look at any profile of your average 40something female and you'll see exactly what I mean!
What's also interesting is the number of younger people who are dropping Facebook in favour of Instagram!

Sure. I’ve met people who have become friends. I’ve had advice given to me on how to make something, and on techniques to use that have helped me grow as a maker of stuff. I make things from reclaimed and upcycled materials, it’s a hobby but it also makes me a little money. I’ve had people offer me free tools, and materials. I’ve sold some of the things I make because someone saw a picture I posted on Facebook, and wanted to buy the thing I’d made.
None of this would have happened if I hadn’t been a user of social media. Does that explain it thoroughly enough for you? If you don’t want to go on it then don’t, but it’s a rather small minded view that because you’re not on it then nobody else should be either.
These might not be things that you are missing out on, but they are things that I would miss. Does that count?

There is a Tweeter, who has a profile which tries to fool you that it is Sheffield United tweeting, who has tweeted Homophobic Abuse at/about me. I imagine him sitting at home "living the dream" that people on Twitter think it's a real football club abusing them. And, I think what? Why? Even though he uses the "alias" Sheffield United, I know who he is. But, I'd never dream of making his details public.

I have a friend who decided to emigrate to New Zealand. I was sad when he left.

Didn't see him for a few years, thought I'd never see him again. Then, a few years later he pops up on Facebook.

Now I can see what his kids have turned out like, and have a bit of effortless chat.

When he came back to see family, we got to talk blades in the pub over a pint, because I knew he was coming back.

There's no going back, and people who bleat on are the same types that couldnt get to grips with decimalisation, cars, video recorder programming, computers, and self service check outs

You know. Like people that can't manage to make their computer buy a ticket for a friend down at the lane.

Just because there's some cunts on the road, doesn't mean I can't have my car, and drive it where I like.

At first i was enraged by this waste-of-spunks disgusting tweet and my black heart warmed knowing his address and personal info had been exposed.

But now I feel sincere pity for him. Not because I don't appreciate the severity of what he has done, more that he is clearly a moron who clearly has little grasp of values such as compassion, respect or decency. Nor a great deal of intelligence to boot.

Hopefully the shaming this has brought will serve as a tough learning curve and teach him the lesson of consequence.
