Dont recall him ever giving me any transfer news, did you make that one up?
You run in the same circles don’t you? Surely he’d tell his old pal if he had any interesting snippets of information!

I don’t know how you of all people can blame others for making stuff up! Oh, the audacity.

Come in Robbie Savage...

Ooh look it’s Cassandra.

Have I stumbled unwittingly into an in-joke?

Sorry.

Sorry mate it's just me messing about. No offence intended or caused I hope. Shitty couple of anniversaries coming up and today is one of them, my joke about hotels and living my life vicariously through @greenwichblade was an attempt at distracting myself.

So yes, a bit of an in joke but in no way intended to cause any offence to you.

The full story will appear in my Tesco book, the chapter called "Romance" although it should be called "Shagging". I may have to change a few names to save me from receiving bricks through the window. My thoughts are with you, meanwhile. For me the anniversaries will all be coming 'round for the first time in the first three months of next year and I am not exactly looking forward to them.

Mo-pay. The "au" in French is pronounced Oh (au pair, etc).
This will not stop half our fans, should we sign this player, pronouncing it "Morpay".
Poor Christian Nade (pronounced Nadd, but not by our fans) gave up in the end and started mispronouncing his own name as "Naday".
I blame the Brexiteers.

I think most of us had got the Mo bit - it's the pay bit that's in question .

Is it as in "another 50 quid a week else we'll dahn t' tooils an' fuck off " , or as in " gi' us another slice o' that before Blade 56 gets 'ere and teks it off for analysis " ?

Your clarification on this most important issue would be much appreciated .

I'll keep an eye out ;)

Thank you very much mate. When yours come round, I'll be waiting if you need anything.

Given that 'vin de pays' is pronounced 'van de pay' I think we can safely assume that the 'pay' bit is pronounced 'pay'.

Sorry, but you're way off with that observation.

When the Academy system was revamped, Bees were one of (I think) only two Lge One clubs to achieve the highest grade of Academy. They spent a fortune on facilities and top coaches, inc a tie-in with a local college for whom they built a big sports centre etc. Thereafter it was costing over £1m a year to run, but early results were v.promising.

But then, after the PL bunged the FL some money, the latter agreed to change the rules for youth players which meant PL clubs could now recruit the best kids developed in other clubs' Academies without having to pay proper compensation. Bees suddenly lost two of their most promising youngsters, on whom they'd spent serious time and money developing, to Man City and Man U, for £30k each - "licensed robbery".

So in response, Bees cut their losses, closed the Academy and initiated a brand new concept they call their "B" team (pun not intended), whereby they signed up top young 17-22 y.o.'s from all over Europe who hadn't quite made it in their own Academies, so as to give them a second chance (late developers or overlooked etc). This "B" team plays prestige challenge matches, home and away, against teams like Bayern, Benfica, Inter etc, as well as Chelsea, Man City and other top British teams.

And it has been very successful in producing players for the 1st team, helping lads through that difficult period between Academy football and senior football. Indeed other clubs are now copying the concept, eg Huddersfield.

I'm not way off what I said is accurate. I'm not debating the financial rights and wrongs of doing it and know a little about it as my son played there for 2 years. I completely understand why Benham did it financially but I am pointing out the same applies.to every none premiership academy and if everyone closed their academy that would be to the detriment of English football..

To say they spent a fortune on the facilities is either completely wrong or they buried the money in the ground. The 'facilities' as you call them were a large windswept field off the A4 in west London with an antiquated club house and a number of port a cabin changing rooms! The.coaches were excellent and they had some very very good young players there who have been picked up by other academies.

So to summarise your chairman made a financial decision to stop developing young kids whereas the.likes of QPR, Reading, Oxford,.Swindon, et al continie to run their academies

For any of our (Now) resident Bees, I'm currently minutes away from watching Nico Yennaris play for Beijing Guoan. Perhaps this will take your minds off of the impending departure of your star player. 😀

I used to sit in the Westfield Corner stand when we were in the league 1.
Think it was the match we lost 1-3 to Bury, with Leon scoring that lobbed goal for Bury.
I chatted to the guy sat next to me, who was a young 2nd year Chinese student, remember him saying his team he supports back in China was Beijing Guon.
He said he comes to most home games and his favourite United player was Mark Duffy, he really rated him.
And he said the Chinese top flight is a decent standard, said the top half teams of the Chinese top division were similar to the standard he was seeing in league1.

Ah , but is it as simple as that ?

Sauce Mornay is pronounce 'Mornay' so it could just as easily be 'pay' rather than 'pay' as you seem to be suggesting . :)

Either way , this matter definitely needs resolving once and for all , if only for the benefit of all those who are in the process of composing his song ................

Use phonetic spellings please so other people can understand the point you’re trying to make.

Why use Sauce Mornay when you could have used Rebecca De Mornay? Honestly.
