Mo-pay. The "au" in French is pronounced Oh (au pair, etc).
This will not stop half our fans, should we sign this player, pronouncing it "Morpay".
Poor Christian Nade (pronounced Nadd, but not by our fans) gave up in the end and started mispronouncing his own name as "Naday".
I blame the Brexiteers.
It's t'owd Moppy

Your concern is greatly appreciated - the summer/close season is boring as hell as weekly football disappears. Transfer rumour fills that void... to a small degree.
Are Brentford close on any more incomings?

Sorry, but you're way off with that observation.

When the Academy system was revamped, Bees were one of (I think) only two Lge One clubs to achieve the highest grade of Academy. They spent a fortune on facilities and top coaches, inc a tie-in with a local college for whom they built a big sports centre etc. Thereafter it was costing over £1m a year to run, but early results were v.promising.

But then, after the PL bunged the FL some money, the latter agreed to change the rules for youth players which meant PL clubs could now recruit the best kids developed in other clubs' Academies without having to pay proper compensation. Bees suddenly lost two of their most promising youngsters, on whom they'd spent serious time and money developing, to Man City and Man U, for £30k each - "licensed robbery".

So in response, Bees cut their losses, closed the Academy and initiated a brand new concept they call their "B" team (pun not intended), whereby they signed up top young 17-22 y.o.'s from all over Europe who hadn't quite made it in their own Academies, so as to give them a second chance (late developers or overlooked etc). This "B" team plays prestige challenge matches, home and away, against teams like Bayern, Benfica, Inter etc, as well as Chelsea, Man City and other top British teams.

And it has been very successful in producing players for the 1st team, helping lads through that difficult period between Academy football and senior football. Indeed other clubs are now copying the concept, eg Huddersfield.

If Brentford can produce players for the first team and for selling on, using this model then fair play to them.

If you had a builder that built a wall for you 3-4 years ago that kept falling down, would you hire the same builder to build another wall for you now?

If you saw mcgoldrick 4 seasons ago you wouldn't have had him last season, would you?

Same analogy....

The more I see the less I’m keen on this signing. Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t be gutted but just looking at his goals, how often will he be in those positions in the premiership against the best defenses? Not often would be my guess. 12 mill plus add ons would be acceptable but i wouldn’t accept a deal heavily loaded on the players interests that the agent may be trying. We already have Billy who is seemingly more clinical, we should use the money to sign better all round strikers. Again wouldn’t complain just an easy one to walk away from.

Wouldn’t argue about any of that, the other negative is although he’s good aggressive player being only 5’7” is a big negative especially in the PL.Still wouldn’t want to lose him even for 20 mill
Probably another comparison with our Billy is there both worth more to us than they would be to a prospective buyer.

13 goal involvements in 29, got to the play offs.

Probably would to be honest if he was still going for nowt.

Also it's not at all the same analogy.

On an almost unrelated subject, is there a Travelodge in Brentford? Asking for a friend...............................
Yes, though it's called "London Kew Bridge" (Kew sounds a bit classier, though it's still in Brentford):

As it happens, it's about half way between Griffin Park and BFC's new stadium on Lionel Road South.

(There's also a Novotel very close to GP, which the club sometimes uses for business meeting etc)
