With Man U seemingly wanting to operate on a very tight budget and not being able to get the business they want to do over the line it might be worth making approaches for players who are seeing their pathways blocked there either on loan or on permanent moves. Plus Man United have made some shocking decisions in recent years letting great academy players leave for buttons and it would be nice to exploit another teams incompetence for a change especially theirs and take some of their good young talents rather than the other way round.

Two I’d suggest looking at are Tyler Fredricson and Toby Collyer both were very highly rated a few years ago but are now in their early 20’s in and around the first team group but not getting minutes. They’re exactly the type of profile of player that likely needs to move down the pyramid now to kick start their careers as pros and work their way back up and we’d be a good landing spot with a track record of giving players the opportunity to do that.

Fredericson (20) has captained their U21’s at CB is reportedly good on the ball and has a good cross on him but at 6ft and with a slender build he might struggle to make CB his long term position and might need to move to Rightback. It’s a similar player profile to Gilchrist last year which I know won’t be popular but just because Gilchrist didn’t work out doesn’t mean this lad won’t if we could get him on a perm with a view to trying him at CB and if it was too much for him physically transitioning him to rightback I think he’d be a sensible pick up.

Collyer (21) was signed from Brighton as an 18 year old but hasn’t managed to break into the first team he’s a really really classy and intelligent player as a defensive midfielder reads the game really well both defensively and with the ball and when he’s on song he’s capable of running the game from that position playing through the press given that that is apparently what Selles values in a 6 and we now have a hole there this lad would be a shrewd target to bring in. He can also play further up as a box to box 8. Let him come in and play with / compete with Peck and Blaster and let’s have the most exciting young midfield outside the prem.

These two on perms wouldn’t be cheap I don’t think but they wouldn’t be extortionate either if we’re reportedly willing to pay 6 for Phillips then we should be able to afford these two as well in that 4-6 ball park and both would have the potential to improve us now and be good long term saleable assets for the club.

If not they’re not getting minutes for Man U and perhaps loan deals with options or obligations to buy should we go up could also be done.

Wouldn't mind Collyer for the right price. Don't think we'd stand a chance with Fredricson, he's very highly rated at United.

He’s in a weird spot very very highly rated as a teenager then a bad injury which he’s come back from on the fringes of the team but if they’d had injuries last year he probably would’ve got his shot but this summer they’re apparently looking to bring in big money CB’s so he’s likely going to slip in the pecking order I could see him shaking loose or wanting to go and play somewhere it’s more likely a loan but you never know stranger things have happened especially with Man U at the minute.

Collyer I think would be a very strong addition, and with them not having European games on their schedule (lol) it might be the case that they do need to loan some of their fringe players out in order for them to get game time. Wheatley might also be worth a look further up the park

Need a statement from the board more than ever
Aye
The statement reads:

The board of Sheffield United Football Club will not make any comment on any unsubstantiated rumours.

Transfers will be announced in the usual fashion, and only upon completion.

Should any supporter construe this stance as consequent of lack of funds, failure of ambition, inadequacy of personnel / processes , over reliance on’AI’ or other implicitly pejorative perspectives including lazily ascribing such as “typical United” they are invited, with the greatest of respect, to shut the fuck up and fuck the fuck off you impatient motherfucking motherfucker.

AI sounding a lot like it's going to annihilate the human race before the transfer window closes.

Tell your family you love them. If you have a time machine, please raise your hand now.
