i can see this one stumbling... the next toffees manager will want to assess every player, cannot see them letting holgate go without doing so

Sounds like Ancelotti will be appointed pretty soon. It won't take him long to make an assessment. He'll be needing to make decisions ahead of January.
 
Didn't realise he's a South Yorkshire lad, might give us the edge in the unlikely event that he is available in January.

He'd have a job shifting Baldock, or Basham though on current form.

I honestly don't see anybody being displaced by a January signing if I'm honest. It would take them too long to get used to our system.

And I think that's why Wilder is.looking at Rodwell. The defence has done so well unless theres a dramatic.loss of form the only way anyone gets a look in is injury or suspension. Rodwell and Jags would be adequate cover for.Basham.

Holgate would be a good long term replacement for Bash but more.likely a summer signing I would think.
 
What are our squad numbers up to and who is likely to leave this Jan (squad players) ?
 
Seems a good fit. Can play a few positions. He even played left side centre half I think it was against Norwich. So can play along the back 3 but obviously looking more into the RCB. Also played as an attacking full back against us for West Brom. Played midfield last week. Seems a very good utility player.

If that’s who CW wants and it’s the reported 14m then the board should back him with it.

I think the assumption is we sign Besic on a permanent.

The Star can't confirm anything. Absolutely nobody will have told them anything about transfer targets. It's probably time their football arm was just wrapped up now. It's completely redundant in the modern era.

Oh yeah, not sure where I got 24 from. I looked the other day and according to Sportrac it was £30k a week. Not sure how reliable they are but it sounds about right for 6 years ago. Ends this season.

He’d maybe have to drop to £18k/£20k with us or look in the Championship I’d have thought. He’d perhaps want a 3 year deal if for less money.

Not sure he's done enough to justify a 3 year commitment though. That's up to Wilder I guess.
 
Could anyone see a possible Lundstram for Holgate swap on the cards (plus some cash)? Depends how contract negotiations pan out of course but he's an Everton lad and they're desperate in midfield options. Obviously I would prefer to keep Lunny but if he's holding out for more than can afford might as well use him as a bargaining chip

No, I can't see that at all. Ancelotti is just about to take over at Everton and it seems pretty unlikely he'd be putting Lunny at the top of his first shopping list for the JTW.

If (and it's a big if) Holgate comes in on loan, it might mean Besic going back to Everton and Rodwell coming in on a free to replace him as midfield cover.

I suspect talk of a permanent move for Henderson is pie in the sky, at least in this window. If I was a betting man I'd guess one loan and one free transfer, and maybe one permanent transfer with a fee.

Ancelotti will go and sign Zielinski from Napoli. We really need to get Lundstram on a new contract. I wouldn't even swap Lundstram for Holgate to be honest.
 
Everton fans waxing lyrical about Holgate on their board.... it's a non-mover in my opinion...

admittedly i haven't watched him much, but he sounds perfect for us, mobile, high workrate CB/DM/RB who can dribble and attack ... no wonder CW will be in for him!

Holgate would be a top signing looks a proper player but not sure why they’d sell him or loan him he’s been playing recently for them.

Saying that they’d probably rather spend 50 million on someone from Burnley

Good that he's dispelling the 'he's shit' myth.

But it looks unlikely we can get him.

He should have been in Everton's team all season at RB, before CB with the injuries.
