Player Suggestion Luke Freeman

Sure. Can’t argue with that. But consider for a moment what the big clubs do. They sniff the slightest inkling of talent and they go in there and buy it up. Take Jacob Mellis of Sheff Utd as an example. Most of us had never heard of him when Chelsea snapped him up at 16 years old. It didn’t work out for him there but it’s not really the point, they got in early that’s the point.

My point is it was blindingly obvious what a good player Freeman was at Stevenage. We should have gone for him then.

As for Bogle...he’s another that I’d have gone for whilst at Grimsby. We can always jettison these players if they don’t work out, but we can’t buy them when they’re out of our prce range.

Yes but spending £1m on a player unproven above L1 or even L2 is a far bigger risk to a club like Utd than it would be to any Prem club or any the wealthier Champ clubs.

Taking Bogle as a good example, a player who has (so far) proven to be not good enough for the Champ (or even L1) but if Utd had taken a punt on him in any recent season and therefore allocated a large proportion of their budget to signing him, it would simply have meant that others wouldn't have been signed e.g. Clarke, who admittedly has far exceeded most people's expectations but had a far more solid track record.

Of course there are a few gems in the lower leagues that can hack it but in line with CW's comments about recruiting from L1 and L2 there are far more duds that can't.

Here’s another one that I thought was an amazing talent....

Samuelson. (Forgot his fest name). But he played for Colchester against us a few years ago. He was on loan from West Ham I think. He was another like Luke Freeman. We couldn’t get the ball off him!

Now what’s happened to him? Because he looked absolutely a world beater to me.

Video here to remind you!

Having found that I found out out he’s on loan now to some poxy little club in Norway. Gerrim in here!

Same for Ozzie Oztumer of Walsall, now Bolton.

Should have bought him imo from Walsall this summer.

Has signed a new deal at QPR.

Boo!
Doesn't mean he won't be off, but it does probably mean we are now priced out of signing him. His fee and wages will have both increased now.

We were priced out of signing him ages ago as QPR said he wasn't for sale. Why anyone continued to think there was a chance we'd sign him I've no idea.

Aren't QPR under a transfer embargo? Given their run up the table and inability to sign new players makes perfect sense to lock in their best players as they can't replace them if they get poached.

A news report (21 hours ago) says Leeds are interested, surely we could beat them to that signing now?
Warburton wants to keep him, he was their player of the season and he renewed his contract last year but money talks and we finally have a bit thanks to uncle BL.

We need someone else who can play the Duffy role - Freeman fits the bill...gerrimin!

Duffy's style in that role is hard to replicate and there aren't many who can do it, but Freeman could. That's why I'd like us to sign him.

And he wouldn't cost £10m. Barely half, IMO.

Annnnnnd this one is back on.

3 or 4 million?!

Can’t see QPR wanting to sell him and with two years left on his contract, I think he’ll cost a bit more than £3m - £4m. I reckon they’ll want £10m and we might be able to get him for £7m - £8m.

I’m not a massive fan of him personally so I wouldn’t be arsed if he didn’t sign.

Caddette Man posted it on the Movement thread.

QPR want to offload for 3 to 4 million and we've re-ignited last season's interest.

The 3 or 4 million part is suspect to me as well.

But I can see why they might want to sell - he's at peak value, they need the money, he'll want to move, and they have Eze emerging as a replacement.

Even if QPR are looking too offload, no doubt the price will go up with a Premier League club interested.

Championship clubs aren’t daft, they don’t sell to the Premier League on the cheap unless the player’s contract has a year or less to go.

No, but he may have a release clause - the new contract was signed following a summer of interest from richer clubs.

It's also unrealistic that their starting negotiation point would be anything above £6-7m.

We might have also made it very clear that we won't go above £4m for him in any circumstances. And we could be the only PL club interested.

He wasn't good enough for us last season, never mind this coming one.

Really?

Don't agree at all. Having watched him closely since his Stevenage days I think he is a class player, capable of stepping up another level. He possesses the skillset of a player who will thrive the further up the league pyramid he goes.

If he was premier league standard he would be here be now ...simple as that ..not for me thanks

An upgrade on Duffy of course ..but doesn't warrant the funds on the budget we have ..

Let's look elsewhere

If Jota and Lolley go to Villa then surely this is nailed on.

In which case, cheers Villa!

Or they desperately need to cut their wage bill.

That's a weird outlook mate.
Especially since almost every player we've been linked with so far isn't in the Premiership.
