Outgoing? Leon Clarke

I've said before, Leon Clarke will be remembered very warmly for his time here, despite being a sometimes unpopular journeyman elsewhere. And I'm glad because I always thought he was a decent player elsewhere. He was much maligned at Wednesday (understandable, given the hilarious antics versus Palace) but he wasn't the joke they said he was.

His highlight reel for us over his first two seasons matches anyone:

Superb goal and performance against Chesterfield (a turning point that season, I thought)
Scoring the promotion winning goal (Fleck's goal obviously sticks in the memory more, but a draw would have been enough)
That exocet missile on the volley in an away match shortly after promotion - can anyone remember which game?
His jump and heel-click after Fleck scored the free kick in the derby
Tearing the arse out of Wednesday himself shortly thereafter
Doing the same to a great Wolves side days later
Four goals in a half against Hull - never seen anyone else manage that for us
Hat Trick in vain at home to Fulham
That superb first time cross for Sharp at home to Wigan. Well, *I* thought it was good...

And of course his performance *for* Wigan, and his unbridled joy when they equalised against Leeds.

3 different ways! I'm going to concentrate my conversations with animals from higher up the food chain from now on. Enjoy.
Hmmm........nasty comments calling me an animal ..of some kind..just because I highlighted you're ridiculous post

Precious little queen aren't we ..👜

Yes he is having a great game, big, strong and fast. If only CW and AK had got hold of the lad earlier in his career, who knows what might have happened.

Said it many times over the years, despite his age, the model modern striker.

At today’s inflated prices surely Leon has to be worth a couple of Million? Or shall we just give a player away who is proven at championship level?

Whoever gets him will have a proven championship player on their hands and I wish him all the best.

The world record fee for a 34 year old is only €6m and that was José Fonte going to China. There is no way any championship club will pay over £500k for him in my opinion.

To be honest I think we just need to get him off the wage bill with any fee being a bonus.

To be fair he’s a defender, Leon is a striker who scores and assists goals so will be more valuable as those sorts of players usually bring more of a fee in.

Having thought about it again after taking into account what you’ve said I still think we could get at least £1M for him as he’d be a valuable addition to someone for a year or two and I think Wilder will include him in a lot of the pre season games to keep him firmly in the shop window.

I think a couple of mil might be pushing it but I genuinely do think we could touch 7 figures selling him

But as said above getting his wages off the bill to make room for someone else is imperative. The fee is a bonus.

Wouldn’t take less than half a mil

Yeah, I’ve revised my figure on the post above and agree with yours and YES Blade s post in getting him off the wage bill. He’s done a grand old job here though and has played a huge part in getting us to where we find ourselves now and that’s probably why I’m valuing him more highly than what clubs are willing to pay.

Can I just say for the record, for all the (constructive) criticism I have levied this lads way, I will ALWAYS be thankful for that moment at the sty when he played a massive (😉) part in my going batshit crazy bonkers 😀.

GLTTL.

He's played a huge part in the most enjoyable, successful and entertaining period of this clubs history. We can't criticise him at all, any positives far outweigh anything negative (of which you'd be hard pressed to find).

Evans to donny, Clarke to Barnsley. Although don't barnsley only sign 25 and under age wise?
