according to El Accounto no more signings (after O’Hare that is)

Is he talking utter bollox?
That would mean we’ll have no 1st choice keeper, 1 lwb and no right sided centre back when Anel inevitably goes. He talks utter shite that bloke, don’t know why anyone on Twitter/X whatever it is, gives him the time of the day.

For reference who is? just asking so I can fuck off to another clubs forum (cue the applause from everybody on this forum)

Hope it somebody good so I can be a glory hunter
Hanover United, they played in the 1879 FA Cup but formed some time between 1873 and 1875

It's interesting that we're suddenly willing to spend fees on players with little resale value. McLean, Grimes and Moore all fit that description

This is a change of strategy. Part driven by the need to replace senior players, but I think it also indicates that the new owners focus is to simply bring in players who will get us promoted. This is something that will be highly mutually agreeable between them and Wilder, which bodes well. I agree with this approach as well - we're desperate for proven, reliable, experienced types given the previous season, the departures and the remaining squad

Moore for example 2m to lose on a player is nothing now when you consider what we've lost on Mcburnie and Brewster.

I was under the impression, but I might be completely wrong in that Des wants young, athletic players and Wilder wants to prioritise experience. I think we have an exciting young squad if we get Burrows, Cooper etc. but we do need some old heads. Moore is a fantastic signing and the best we could’ve got.

If a player performs well for 2 or 3 years having cost a reasonably modest fee then resale value won't be any serious concern. Moore for 2m is quite a typical example. McLean for 500k(?) the same

Grimes is a bit of a trickier one because you'd still expect him to cost a fair bit

Also with Grimes, he's about that age where some players will want to make that next big move to take your career to the next level, like helping us to promotion and playing in the premier league.

Just seen the article says as much as 1.5m for McLean

That's a little bit much for his age at championship level

If we're doing that then maybe don't spend on Grimes as well, if that's the plan, and instead get someone like McNair on a free who can cover midfield while also being the starting RCB

Another point here, if we're after both these 2 for midfield..... what does it say about our expectations for Tom Davies?!

That we don't have any.?

Wilder has already said Tom Davies out for the foreseeable future. A good experienced midfielder is needed, have seen Rangers post. A two year deal is acceptable to me.

Rangers fans suggesting we have outbid them for McClean.

Whats going on?! Normally we're the team getting outbid by everyone else... not used to us keep blowing the competition out of the water for transfers.. first Moore, then O'Hare now McClean

Am I living in some weird parallel universe??

Haha Boro and Villa supporters will be fearing the worst. We may finally put in a bid for a Brentford player :-)

If it’s a choice, I would rather Grimes over McClean but it would be nice to get both. Would be nice to have plenty of midfield options.

He has to be talking bollocks, we’ve only just got a squad for two 5-a-side teams.
Even though at the weekend we fielded two full sides with five subs. At least two others were missing and we have just added two more. How many do you want ?

We had 14 kids involved at the weekend, not even including Brooks and Blaster as they're 1st teamers these days realistically

1st half: Curtis, Buyabu, Marsh, One, Peck
2nd half: Sasnauskas, Shackleton, Hampson, Freckleton
Subs: Faxon, Boyes, Seriki, Sachdev, Blacker

Of those, maybe half of them been in a squad for a competitive 1st team match? Several of them only being involved in the PL while we got slapped every week last season.

I'm all for young lads getting 1st team exposure as part of their development, but it would be reckless to rely on that many to form a full squad.

Shackleton isn't a "kid".....

We had 27 players available plus at least two more plus the two just signed. That makes 31, so if you remove 8 youngsters there is a squad capable of doing well in the Championship. Add in one or two more signings to release another couple of youngsters and all is well in my view.

What, like we did with Robinson, Freeman, Mousset, McBurnie, Berge, Brewster and Hamer to name a few. The narrative of negativity needs to change, it is so boring and predictable. Also, it's often not true.
