If we were really in for him do you think we’d be standing by and watching Coventry beat us? They wouldn’t be able to offer more wages, they’re not projected to finish higher than us and Sheffields a more appealing city in general (although the city centre is not helping our cause). Hoping he goes elsewhere. He's not bad but I want us to sign better than that. He wasn't any great shakes at CCFC last season and I think he gets a bigger media profile than his actual abilities deserve as he's ex Chelsea (reserves).

As stated by others, I suspect we were never really interested in the lad. Agents will have used SUFCs name to get a better deal with the clubs that are actually genuinely interested in signing him. It's just a negotiation tactic by the lads Agent and one I'd do if I was being paid to get him a new club. You wouldn't look to sell your car and then tell the first person to come and look at it that you've had fuck all interest in it so far...

Spot on. We miss out on a lot of players because they want to stay near home. Especially when that home is London. I guess Southern clubs have similar issues (outside of London, at least).
