Successful, what has he won?The hate towards Southgate is laughable. He's our most successful manager since 1966 and yet every time we don't win easily people can't wait to slag him off.
Sounds familiar...![]()

I hear you pomps but he also threw on rashford and grealish who on a good day should have been more than good enough to open up a bang average team. But in the lead up to this we looked distinctly clueless and tonight looked distinctly even more clueless. That Yanks were basically 'Pulisic' and a supporting cast.
We needed to play in their fucking half. Sterling, Mount and Trippier were very, very sub par and Southgate could have changed things significantly on sixty and shitcanned them to get at their backline
That's why he's a wanker

Southgate is ok as a third division manager, he has not track history or any guts!
As far as football matters are concerned, I think people always look for someone or something to blame. Its useful to have a manager to aim at?Do you think I'm being too harsh or too kind on Hecky? I know people who think both
Of course, any half decent manager with the likes of John Stones, Conor Coady, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Eric Dier and Ben White should be winning every World Cup and European Championships.Successful, what has he won?
Most of those players you names were in the squad at Wembley last year when we lost to Italy. At 1-0 up early in the game England did almost nothing to push and press for a second goal. You have to think that those tactics came from the manager. If they didn’t then the captain should have been directing things on the pitch. Either way we were far too negative with the lead.Of course, any half decent manager with the likes of John Stones, Conor Coady, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Eric Dier and Ben White should be winning every World Cup and European Championships.
Do you not think those players are crap, on a world stage? And yet they got within sniffing distance of winning a European final and you slag off the manager who got us there? Most of those players you names were in the squad at Wembley last year when we lost to Italy. AgreeSemi and a final...
Sack him.
Difficult to get rid, hes good in front of the cameras and sparked a waistcoat trend.Get rid
Sean Dyche. The answer to any managerial question.Ok get rid of him and replace him with who ?
I mean who would even want the fucking job ?
Look at the stick this guy gets for qualifying to the second stage of the tournament as englands most succesful manager in sixty years
Everyone was saying the same about grealish at tge last tournament and maddison before this oneMr Rooney - writing in today's Sunday Times ( yeah alright )- says Foden is our best player and should start against Wales. I've nothing against that statement, its worth giving him the chance. I think we should recall Walker, rest Kane for the play-offs and play Wilson.
Southgate may be a nice guy but he has to be more receptive to making changes.
He’s done well but perhaps isn’t a pro active coach (just picked that phrase up from the Cro v Can commentary)Mr Rooney - writing in today's Sunday Times ( yeah alright )- says Foden is our best player and should start against Wales. Re-read my post, I haven’t slagged off the manager.Do you not think those players are crap, on a world stage? And yet they got within sniffing distance of winning a European final and you slag off the manager who got us there?
I can guarantee that had Southgate 'been brave' and we'd been hit on the break twice and lost 2:1 then everyone would be slagging him off for not protecting a lead.

Also
Gotta agree with Pomps here, anybody who misses a penalty in a euro semi then goes on to make money out of it by doing a stupid f-ing advert with a bag over his head for a pizza company is a wanker. Now you are pursuing me with a vendetta.
I feel at ease to call Southgate a wanker much in the same vein that people on here call Neil Warnock, Barry Bannon, Jack Grealish, Jay McEverley and countless others more insulting terms. They aren't part of the discourse and likely won't be. And, If I call Southgate a wanker and he is part of the conversation I feel he will be well within his right to report me. That's how it works.
Now you are making this what it shouldn't be. Heed my request - leave me alone and stop abusing me. Discuss football with me and disagree with me but pack it in with the ad hominem. This thread - your thread - is about tonight's game, not me. You'll find - as do I - people don't share your point of view. Get over it.
Southgate - to me - is a wanker. I have explained why.

I find it bizarre people completely ignore the easy runs we had in draws. Any time we play anyone half decent we struggle. The Italian side we couldn't beat in the final didn't even make the world cup so it's not like it was a great side either.
How they getting on in the world cup again? Hardly a great side. There for the taking. His lack of attacking intent blew a golden opportunity. And yet that Italian side still managed to get further than every other team. Mainly because their defence was far better than everyone else’s.

Okay how about how they did in the world cup before? The exact same side?
Either way, that Italian side went further than every other team.

Oh...hang on..
You didn't answer my question because you didn't like the answerWhat?
Did they not go further than every other team? Which bit did I get wrong?

Average to okay sides can win tournaments. Look at Greece and Portugal. They can also go deep in them with a lucky manager.
