I'll get in there before all the moaners..
"...Its a low bar"

But yeah, I liked what we put on show. We already know our limitations because of the players we have, there's always going to be a ceiling for squads like this, but I think today we sawabout 85%-90% of what we are capable of. We also played a style that suits the players at our disposal. People are complaining that we were slow and ponderous, but other than one loan exception, who in the squad isn't? We were brilliant in the centre of the park and solid at the back. Again, its hard to demand much more from these players.
"Slow & ponderous" , as you say.
Might it be appropriate to ask - at this juncture - why the manager has recruited slow & ponderous players ?
And then failed to stick on Donovan for the last 15 mins as a positive attempt to win a game ?

I'm not downbeat in the slightest and I accept where we are at, in terms of resources and spending power etc

I'm also baffled at the general response to today's game. I thought it was a poor game where neither keeper had much to do, attacking link-up play was scarce, play was broken up every 10 seconds by careless offsides, officiousness and cynical fouls, and both sides were wasteful in possession.

We didn't stop working but I wouldn't say anyone's work rate stood out. I'm not really in the habit of applauding running, it's not sports day.

Not deserving to lose to a last minute goal is very different to not deserving to lose. Let's not conflate the two. We were second-best by every measure.

Wolves are miles away from where they ought to be. Why that's to our credit, I don't know. We didn't stop them from playing, simply that they were poor albeit still superior to us.

Which is what exactly? We have a rag bag group of players, most of them old, with a different team every game. Players often played out of position and poor decisions regarding substitutions.

I think the only thing we are trying to achieve is survival. I don't think Chris can take us forward any more. Achieve survival, hopefully, but I have no faith he can take us forward. These players are his choice, and look like a set of charity shop bargains, sometimes looking ok, but in reality past their best or poor copies of genuine quality.

Only positive is he finally went 352. Apart from that we never looked like scoring really

We did have the ball in the net, we created chances.

I was fucked off at how we sat back in the last 15. His choice of subs handed the advantage to Wolves.

What a dour assessment- for 89 Minutes we looked a cohesive unit, we had a plan, we looked decent. Unlucky not to get the point but overall, best game we have played this season.

With a Serki or burrows we potentially create more than we did today. We just badly miss a creative spark but we sold the two players who could create them with no like for like replacement so what do we expect

I wasn’t sure but the convoluted letters was a clue, you never know with the dark arts on this board. 9 out of 10 for effort. More than Deadbats score for any of our players this season, and probably last, and probably the season before. 👍

I don’t mind this direct/defensive style of play but I just can’t watch it if we’re not going to incorporate some pace with it. If we had any sort of genuine counter attacking threat I think we’d have won that game.
Exactly. I was also happier with the overall performance until the last 20. If you’re going to go all defensive then you need an outlet that scares the opposition. Wolves could really press us knowing that they could always get back to cover our slow attackers.
I hope One is back soon, but would he be trusted ahead of Ayew….probably not

I dont know. I obviously want pace.
But, if Peck, Arblaster, Burrows etc were also rrrrrrapid, they would have been sold to a Premier league side a year ago. We only kept Gus and Cal as long as they did because they weren't phsical specimens as well as quality footballers.
We've had a few speedboat with no drivers in the past. Pace isn't everything... but a sprinkling of it wouldn't go a miss I agree.

There are his choices from what we can afford, not his preferred choice!!
