I also think that whilst CW probably only wanted 1 striker in originally, he may well push the board for two. It makes sense if there are two (likely one perm and one loan) available who CW likes, particularly given that:

A. It's more than feasible at this point that we're 'going down the list' so to speak, if a 1st or 2nd choice can't be done then logically it follows that you probably have less certainty that 3rd choice downward are exactly what you need. A case of hedging your bets if you like.

B. Mousset, as much as I like him, has hardly been reliable in terms of form and fitness so even once he's back, how long will we have to wait until he makes a positive impact?

C. CW is no bedwetter but he is also a realist and he will be as concerned (reasonable concern, not "Oh shit relegation is inevitable") as we all are by the uninspiring start, so I imagine he'll take as much as the board will give him at this stage.
