Have you seen him play? I dont remember seeing him on MOTD so I am keeping my mind open on him
Just keeps it simple, and can pass a ball. Plus a leader, will end up captain, if we end up signing him full time.
However, just wait for the first sideways, or back pass, and it will be,
MELTDOWN :eek::mad:

He was still performing admirably when called upon by Leicester in the Prem last year. He's still a cut above this division, but unlike a few others we consider a 'cut above' he will actually get stuck in and not shirk any challenges. He is the leader we've been craving.

I just don't see the obsession with Hammond.

He's 32, slow and unathletic. The exact opposite of what has been required for some time now.

Quite how this man is going to improve anything by a noticeable margin is beyond me.

I would stay well away from the signings of players like these.

Then again the the club seems to take the opposite approach to me on all aspects of the running of the club.

So I fully expect his slow stature through that door today.

When he played for Leicester last season they played 4-4-2 and his apparent lack of pace didn't hinder him then.
Thats in the top division in the league.

He really is the very best we could hope for, he knows what is required.

Good signing (if it is true) Hammond is the type of midfield that we need, however for the first few games I won't be expecting too much from him due his lack of game time.

Lets just hope if he does sign that his legs havn't gone 32 is getting on a bit. ok short term but no re sale value
Bristol have no re-sale value on Aaron Wilbraham but I doubt they care
If there's no re sale value, it just means we can't sell him (phew ;))

More than capable for this shite division, although McCall, Cowans, Hutchinson, Brown et al all really suffered due to a lack of lightening pace...

...oh deary me. The lad is doomed before he has even pulled the shirt over his head.

Another scape goat and there isn't even confirmation of him signing on the dotted line yet
Would you honestly be signing him over say, a younger, slightly taller, more athletic CM if you had any influence? I highly doubt there's nobody out there that can near enough match him in the talent stakes either but the above attributes would more than allow for a slight difference in talent.

Who is there of the quality with those physical attributes that would be suitable for what we need? And, you realise Hammond is 6ft right? I'd say that's a decent height for CM.

yes but who is this said player that would drop down to L1 ?

Let's see if he actually signs first. Jimbo has indicated that a deal is imminent for someone. The ITK's have said it's DH so if true would be a fantastic acquisition for our club at this level.

We really won't get anyone better than Hammond at this level. It's not just about the ability and type of player, but the character and experience too. He's exactly what we've been lacking - as long as he's not done a Dave Kitson/Danny Higginbotham/Marlon King/Michael Higdon and suddenly gone past it in the space of a few months.

And then this an hour ago.....

@amandatheblade After the start of business hours sometime, Amanda. Midmorning-ish, is my guess

We don't actually know what that was a response to, given the private account of the questioner. Her question could have been "when do you normally get off Twitter and do some proper work Jim?"

Hmm. Let's see. Slightly taller, younger, more athletic with not as much ability. Nice one Barny. You've just saved us from having to spend money by describing Chris Basham ;)

Hammond has played (and impressed) in the premier league until quite recently, but he's not good enough for the mighty Blades? You've never really been happy about Adkins coming in either. What the fuck do you actually expect?

Fans know better than the manager though, that's the thing o_O

My piggy brother-in-law said that when Joao first played for them, he did a few decent touches then played a misplaced pass and the whole place booed. Now i've not seen much of the pigs this season, but the snippets I have, he looks like a fantastic player.

Us Blades are very much the same. Passes across the back four after we've been under the cosh for 5 minutes and the fans start moaning. They've clearly never heard the term "Rest in possession"

We didn't bid enough for Raheem Stirling.

and if we had FFP would have meant we could have afforded him for about a week - enough time for the slashers to get on his back though eh?
