"The Coventry City boss ran the rule over former Sheffield United man Hammond during a two day try out at Ryton earlier this week but the 33-year-old admitted afterwards that he was too far off the pace to resurrect his career in League One, having been without a club since being released by the Blades last summer."

No, no I won't believe that....

Think the Cov city boss needs to have a long hard look at himself and see why he cant see all that unseen work like Adkins could.

I wish Dean would have just admitted that last season before extending his loan deal with us last January.

I'm sure he's not that gutted that he's officially past it, he's got paid for this season anyway.

Strange how Hammond suddenly
appears looking for a club.I wonder if United put a stipulation in his termination deal that if we paid him off he couldn't play for anyone else until the new year. After all he had a contract with us and we may have put that as a condition.

Why would we put that as a condition FB, when we could just let him leave, and fuck some other club over.

Whilst he comes across as a complete tosser to be fair to Hammond he just doing the best for his family and has taken advantage of a very badly run football club... players have been doing it to us for years which is why were an established league 1 team. Hammonds wages are small beer compared to the likes of Lee hendrie and dave carney who barely even played. It's the blades fault 100% for signing him and others on stupid contracts in the first place.

Fingers crossed we seem to have a good manager in place now so this crap won't continue

Exactly, he didn't write the contract and if we thought it was excessive then we should not have offered it him. All the talk last season was living within our means yet we renewed the loan deal (after Branningan had gone btw) for Hammond and put in the option of a contract at the end.

Although had Dean been more honest with himself last season maybe he should have called it quits and gone into coaching.

I am surprised that he is even trying to get a job with another club as a player? His legs had gone last season, he had no pace whatsoever and very little stamina. Time to pack it in pal.........
