What makes you think that's the case? Seriously: what are you basing it on? Why do some of our fans seem to think that players will fall over themselves to sign for us, just because we're in our second season in the Premier League? We had a poor end to last season, and a poor start to this, so players might well think twice before coming to us. Secondly, the teams for whom they play might not want or need to sell. Thirdly, we've spent a fucking shit-load of cash, and £25m isn't loose change we can find behind the sofa.
Butland is yesterday's man, and there are serious questions about whether he can ever fulfil the promise he showed as a youngster. Seriously, how long is it since he's been good? Ramsdale has potential and youth on his side, and is the current England U21 first-choice keeper. You simply can't compare the two.
Because Freeman didn't fit in with the way we played, for about the millionth time. There was no point keeping a player who was never going to feature in our formation, and for that exact reason there was no point in replacing him either. Whether we should change formation is another question entirely, and one that's not without merit, but it doesn't matter how many times you ask the question about why Freeman went and wasn't replaced, the answer remains the same. You just need to accept it.
