Yeh I realise that now. I didn’t stay on long realising my middle of the road views weren’t welcome.Chuffing eck, you're a braver man than me (gender assumption, my bad). Mumsnet is worse than the covid threads![]()
The nastiness towards Ched was tangible.
It did make me wonder if it was male posters posting the nasty stuff as you find in womens issues (abortion, misogyny) it’s ironic that it’s the men who shout loudest and are more aggressive in their pro women views.
Regards this thread there’s almost 2 arguments.
Agree with Deadbat. However I don’t believe many people have issues about gay people anymore. Thankfully it’s becoming outdated and old fashioned. Although maybe there’s still the covert hidden stuff, I don’t know.
The issue might be more about encouraging and promoting multiple diversity groups. So instead of all being equal under ONE Sheffield United family. Instead there’s a fashion to identify yourself into specialists groups.
Encouraging diversity is probably beneficial but where does it end, also is there a psychological downside of promoting/ encouraging what could be perceived as victim hood? At a deeper level it’s not a simple subject.
But we don’t know what journey minority groups have had. If they feel a need to advertise that they belong to or support a minority then live and let live. I know a few gay people and they wouldn’t wear a rainbow scarf not because they’re scared or ashamed, it’s because it’s not their thing.
