Wheres all this coming from?

Nothing official on SUFC website, be sad to see him leave if its true!

First official mention of it happening. Its a loan according to this, but if he does well then no doubt Wigan will want to sign him - it doesn't sat the latter bit in the article by the way. We've got 5 forwards at present with Clarke, but Madine's took his spot really, and there's no way that Madine has been brought in to be behind Leon. Good luck to Leon, always be one of my favourites and I said when he signed that I was delighted. He did even better than I thought he would to be fair.

Can't help thinking that Leon has underachieved given his ability, but for us he certainly showed how good he can be, its probably his best spell in his career, given he was scoring in the Championship, which is something he's not done consistently before.

Yep you are right, I spent about half that season absolutely hammered so it’s all a bit blurred. About 30 seconds in

Banger.

Ebanks-Landell on there too! Shame he signed that 20 year contract extension at Wolves. Currently on loan at Rochdale!

Was great last season when we really needed him to be, It seems like when a team is reliant on him he performs best, when he's second fiddle he doesn't hit anywhere near those heights.

If he goes to Wigan and he's their undisputed number 1 he'll score enough to get them away from the drop zone single handedly. He needs to be loved and believed in.
Some beautiful memories, only 1 (maybe 2) top that perfect hat trick against Hull - and we know which they are.

What an absolute bargain, a cult hero and legend for scoring at the sty. Much like myself.
All the best Leon. x

Thats the level both he and Carter Vickers will end up playing at and CW recognised this. JOC and Egan are waaaaaay better.

The same Carter-Vickers who played in the Swansea team that beat (and kept a clean sheet) against us the other week?

But he left us because he could barely get a game. He was on the verge of going back to Spurs from Swansea until Rodon got injured for the same reason.

He's not exactly on an upward curve is he?

Nearly scored an own goal too.

Halfway through our league 1 season I said on this forum that Clarke can fuck off. In the space of 2 years he has gone from that to being one of my all time favourite strikers to have graced The Lane.

So if you're reading this then I just want to say thanks Leon. Not only have you provided so many amazing memories but you have also ensured that I will never go hungry again on account of all the humble pie I have to eat.

The only problem with this deal is that the club have asked dronnieblade to be the taxi driver - think he's said he'll do it free-gratis ;)

Barely? He started 17 games in the half season that he was with us, 8 more than Brooks did. Incidentally he's actually younger than Brooks.

He's not exactly on a downward curve either, not a particularly steep one at least. He shouldn't really be compared to Ebanks-Landell at this moment in time.

One of my favourite Leon goals was the banger away at MK Dons. What a day out that was.

Good luck Leon and thank you!

Wasn't that a free header from a corner? Are you perhaps referring to Port Vale away (also another cracking day) when he almost broke the net?

The equaliser at Northampton was a great finish too. From 1:28...

Very talented player who’s personality has seen him clash with many managers and other players, hence his journeyman tag.

However Wilder got the best from him, nurtured him and he showed what he can do!
18months later and he’s won over some of the most fickle fans (towards ex pig players) and become a bit of a historymaker and legend.
No mean feat...and all while living out of the area away from his family part of the time.

A man I would ALWAYS buy a drink for if I saw him...and always thank for his efforts. He goes with my best wishes, hoping he does a good job and gets 10 goals between now and the season end. Will always be welcome at the club in any capacity for me.

That was enough time to decide he was shite and should be sent to strugglers in the league rather than a top half side.
He's crap, that's why he's started 5 games for Swansea.

Yep, he's that crap we still managed to get to the top of the league with him playing in an important position.

I'm not claiming any sort of cause and effect but we didn't exactly get any better when he left, did we?

I don't see your point, he's absolute shite and ended up out of our side and at Ipswich for a reason and is now barely featuring for mid table Swansea for a reason, if you rate CCV please just grow up.

He's no Claude Davis, but I'd be extremely surprised if he makes it at Spurs, midtable Championship for me, he's got bad feet.

Facing his own goal he's a liability at times, can get about but not the best tackler.

Positive memories, got an assist somewhere last season with a great ball down the wing.

Negative memories, Fulham shit show, hobbling two of our most important players.

I think it was the ball to Leon against Wolves when Coady got sent off.

I'm not sure the 'grow up' comment has any sort of relevance. Is it childish to think a player is better than someone else is suggesting? Isn't disagreements like that exactly what this forum is for?

Your original argument was that he was rubbish and had barely played for us, incorrect. Your new argument is that he must be rubbish because he doesn't play for mid-table Swansea. He also played regularly for top of the table Sheffield United, but that doesn't seem to feature in your logic.

I'm not suggesting he's a world beater, I'm just saying it's extremely harsh for anyone to put him in the same boat as Ebanks-Landell. He's still a young kid who's learning the game. He may end up at league 1 or lower but he may yet become better than that.

If you don't agree with that then fine but at least I'm actually providing a coherent argument, instead of just idiotically proclaiming "he's shit" (whilst also having the cheek to tell others to grow up)
