Alex Bruce now gone from Wigan to Kilmarnock. Possibly the outgoing they were waiting for prior to bringing Clarke in?

BLADES CLOSE IN ON HOGAN LOAN

Sheffield United have won the race to sign Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan, with a loan deal expected to be confirmed tonight or tomorrow morning.

Manager Chris Wilder tried to sign the Republic of Ireland forward in the last window and has beaten a number of Championship clubs, including Bristol City to a deal until the rest of the season.

The player joined Villa two years ago from Brentford for £12m

Meanwhile, Sheffield United striker Leon Clarke is undergoing a medical at Wigan this afternoon ahead of a loan deal until the end of the season.

The equaliser at Northampton was a great finish too. From 1:28...

That fucking day, man...

Possibly so but at least I've put some actual thought into my posts. It's much easier to go around shouting "He's shit" because you can't articulate your thoughts in any other way.

Just grow up a bit pal.

CCV is toss.

I actually feel quite sad at Leon going, feels like the end of something :(

I know what you mean but he's not going permanently, yet, and I think Madine will offer us more, quite frankly, much as I love Leon!

I can see Leon doing well for Wigan to be fair, he needed a run of games for us but Sharp and McGoldrick have been so excellent, he's just not being able to get a run in the side of late.

I thought this too. He's the first of any of Wilders 'regulars' over the first 2 full seasons to leave.
He always played when fit in the first season and was undroppable after the pigs game last year.

In the last 12 months Leon has been 80% rhubarb, 10% average and 10% OK. Patently and clearly NGE.

He has had credit among many, including the gaffer, for the prior 12 months in which he did, admittedly, hit the headlines.

Sadly, this transfer comes 12 months too late for the club to maximise its return.

What does become increasingly clear, is that the gaffers blindspot has been slowly eroded over the past 12 months, and he has seen the level of performances and consistency of performances for what they actually are. Below the required standard.

I wish the lad nothing but the best of luck in any new adventure he may choose. But the writing has been on the wall for quite some time now.

Maybe longer than a few would care to admit ;)

We all wish him well, no room for emotion in football and all that etc., but just sometimes....

10% ok. You’re deranged man. The bloke scored 19 championship goals last season.

Has Clarke fucked your lass? Serious question.

It's just been confirmed on the United website that Clarke has joined Wigan on loan until the end of the season.

Expecting Hogan to be confirmed very soon then - surely we wouldn't leave ourselves exposed to a late drama ???

Good luck to Leon, have to say like many I was sceptical but for a period there he was unplayable. Also true to say his form has dipped but always felt he tried hard despite his languid demeanour. Leaves some good memories and always get a good welcome back from me

Second that emotion...
Good luck Leon and thanks for some memorable goals. Always welcome back here.

Loan? So we're stuck with him next season if we can't give him away.

GLTTLion. Sad to see him go tbh and sure the players and staff feel the same. But, we have to keep it moving.

sad to see him leave but thats downside of success. like when we got promotion to the championship. but i wish leon all the luck in the world. he will always be welcomed back with open arms & be a hero. just for his part in that sheffield derby. never mind the rest of his spell & 19 goals last season
