yes I am sad to see him go too. Some great performances for us. And was our main man in attack last season. He also was great with the fans, always happy to pose for pictures. I remember just this season, Our pre season game against Bradford I think. He stayed out with the fans the longest. signing autographs and selfies. A top man who I think really liked being here and playing for us. All the best to him|

BLADES CLOSE IN ON HOGAN LOAN

Sheffield United have won the race to sign Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan, with a loan deal expected to be confirmed tonight or tomorrow morning.

Manager Chris Wilder tried to sign the Republic of Ireland forward in the last window
Any more Irish players and we'll need a " Backstop, agreement, EU, thingy" :D

:tumbleweed:

Not gutted as I think he'd run his course. But really sad to Leon joining Wigan.
What a great success story he's been for us.
From pantomime baddie to someone who will always be welcome at Bramall Lane and will always get a fantastic reception.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who never thought he'd chant his name.
All the very best to you and thank you for some fantastic memories
LEON, LEON, LEON

Anyone got any strong opinions on Jay O'Shea?

I fancy arguing about him for many hours.
Hey hey it's Jay
Jay o shea o shea
Hes straight
Not gay
He plays and plays and plays
Its Jay o Jay o shea

If there’s an excuse to argue LJBlade will take you up on it

Strange comment from someone who comes across as entremely angry 100% of the time.

Also, when you consider that I wasn’t originally talking to you and you decided to get yourself involved...

Have you got any evidence to back up that statement?

That’s some nice passive aggressive commenting you’re doing there.

Could you provide me with a detailed list of things I’m allowed to do on here please? I wouldn’t want to upset you further. I’ll just get on with compiling a list of around 150 players that I think we should sign so that I can say how clever I am when some of them turn out decent. Hopefully my list won’t clash with yours though.

Can you show me the evidence that it's anywhere near 150 players? If not, why not? And where's the interview that confirms that our scouting team don't consider 150 players or more? Can you post me a link to the interview?

I would do but I’m not sure whether I’m allowed to or not. Send that list over so I can check.

He has been a great signing for us. Actually hoped we’d sign him a while before we did but maybe it would of been too soon to get that performance last season.

Odd thing is if we had got our goal of getting Hogan in the summer I’d say it would of been billy not Leon our ye door.

Good luck to him, can see him proving people wrong yet again and bagging a good few goals.

In the last 12 months Leon has been 80% rhubarb, 10% average and 10% OK. Patently and clearly NGE.

He has had credit among many, including the gaffer, for the prior 12 months in which he did, admittedly, hit the headlines.

Sadly, this transfer comes 12 months too late for the club to maximise its return.

What does become increasingly clear, is that the gaffers blindspot has been slowly eroded over the past 12 months, and he has seen the level of performances and consistency of performances for what they actually are. Below the required standard.

I wish the lad nothing but the best of luck in any new adventure he may choose. But the writing has been on the wall for quite some time now.

Maybe longer than a few would care to admit ;)

Now that you can finally give your one man crusade to slag off Leon from the word go a rest, would you agree that we have had full value for £150k? You know, the championships top scorer last season if you take away the penalties the others scored?
Go on, admit it ;)

In terms of value for money, Leon Clarke must be in the top 3 of all of Wilder’s signings. He’s contributed enormously to our recent success and his goals at Hillsborough ensure he will always be held in very high esteem by the majority of our fans.

For a 2-3 month period last season he was the best striker in the Championship and turned out the best individual striker performances I have seen at our club since the turn of the millennium. That Leon Clarke would walk into any team in the division this season. Sadly, he did fade badly in 2018. The ability’s there, but he’s a total confidence player and has lost his way.

Best of luck to him at Wigan, a club I will always respect for the stance that Dave Whelan took over the Tevez affair. Showed bollocks standing up to the Prem elites when few others’ did. Would love nothing more than for Clarke to go there, thrive and take some points off our promotion rivals.

Never in doubt. And I have explained this times many. I challenge you to find anywhere that I have stated we were short changed.

Contrary to popular misconception, neither will you find anything anywhere that I suggested he was nothing more than an ex pig no mark. It doesn’t suit the agenda of many, but my critique has ALWAYS been made on the level and consistency of performance that I have witnessed with my own, and if I may say so, highly educated eyeballs !!

Nothing more.

And I do stand by every word of it.

GLTTL. But we have needed better for some time now. It took Tufty longer than I would have liked or indeed expected for the penny to finally drop.

Maybe he reads my musings :);).

I never said you’d stated we were short changed. I merely asked the question. I’ve never read or suggested that your dislike was because of his association with the unclean.
If Billy had scored 19 goals last season would you have been as critical? Were you critical when he had a lean spell mid season?
For what it’s worth I do agree that it’s time for us to upgrade now but for me and plenty of others Leon’s been good for us

Well I can tell you this.

I didn’t dislike him on the evening of 24/09/2017.

Proper Leon love in !

But the variance in good Leon and bad Leon, both in terms of level and consistency of performance was mostly unacceptable for the 2.5 years he has had with us.

There were rare occasions when even I would have to admit he looked the bollocks and, sadly, significantly more when it looked like he had never kicked a football before in his life.

The FACT is that scoring 2 goals at Hillsborough in a dramatic and memorable victory on their own turf gets you muchos kudos.

Perhaps I should just be grateful for that (I am before you ask, and have said so times many !!).

Once again, GLTTL.

He couldn't play with Sharp y'know, that's why he had to go eventually. (I read that on here).

GLTTL - proved me right. I said he'd be a good signing at the time, I didn't hate him for having played for Wednesday, and I thought he could play with Sharp.

I also think it's the right time for him to go now.

Contrary to what you believe. my critique has never been based on his being an ex grunter. Never. Not once.

I wasn’t thinking of anyone in particular mate. But there are a few who can’t come to terms with us signing ex Owls.

I was stood in front of one at Norwich last Saturday. Every time Madine touched the ball he called him a great lump or a pig and was more delighted when he got subbed than when we scored the equaliser!
