Honestly, and I know a lot will jump down my throat at this, but.... He isn't that good! He will do ok probably, he is a solid league 1 type player, but don't go expecting miracles from the lad.

This is not a 'slag him off before he's played for us', as I have seen him quite a few times, and his general reviews will be mixed in roygbiv's view from thread, I'm sure. Not a season changing signing IMO. Having said all this, he's almost certainly better than Scougall!

Saw him generally wide for Chezzy (in the 3/4 games I saw) although I believe he played up top equally as often. So i accept its not coming from a huge sample size. The main thing with him is this 'pace' he is touted as having. It's far from blistering, can't see him being the type to just kick it past someone and leave them eating his dust. As I say, he's a solid league 1 player, and will do fine. He just won't win us promotion, and as i also would like to be clear, this is my opinion ofcourse!

Well if true, that's quite surprising. As I've said above, he's a fine league 1 player, just doesn't strike me as a player that will carry us to promotion. Struggle to see where he would play for us also really.

Narrow pitch ought to suit Wilder's preferred 4-2-3-1. Lavery likely to be one of the wide players in the 3 behind Sharp/Clarke I reckon.

Maybe, but from what I've seen so far, everything is too congested with no space wide to beat a man and cross.....surely players like Lavery with that pace need a bit of space to run into and cross?
