i think your right slugHe looked like a player who has already been told he is not part of Wilders plans. He will be gone in January.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Looks to me like we’ve had a call from George Weah saying his nephew is a really good footballer and we should give him a game. The only difference is that Southampton spotted the scam within twenty minutes whereas we gave him a three year contract.
Agreed, reminds me of Peck and Femi sub performances before they broker through. Raw and without any confidence or real purpose in their positioning. I think he's one for the future, wouldn't rule him out yet.I don't think either Matos nor Soumare should be judged on this one performance, in a hashed together team, whilst probably struggling for match fitness.
You could also judge Matos on his wretched performance against Derby, or all of his other appearances, which have been underwhelming to say the least.I don't think either Matos nor Soumare should be judged on this one performance, in a hashed together team, whilst probably struggling for match fitness.
Its time they cleared Hoyland out then! Most them weren’t AI, they came from Hoyland.
The actual ‘AI signings’ aren’t doing that bad in the U21s.
I'm not saying he's good, or will necessarily become good, but some players (particularly young ones) need a run of games to gain confidence, fitness and an appreciation of what's required of them in that role. I don't think a very small sample size of bit part performances are a solid indication of whether they should be binned off or not.You could also judge Matos on his wretched performance against Derby, or all of his other appearances, which have been underwhelming to say the least.
Couldn’t agree more. Its time they cleared Hoyland out then!
This is fine and but Arblaster had been out a year, barely kicked a ball. And even though clearly taking it steady and holding back (either intentionally or because his body wouldn't let him) - he looked capable of passing a ball, controlling a ball, finding space. None of which Matos has looked capable of. I wouldn't mid if we'd plucked him from League 1 but the lads been at Chelsea all his life. Sydie Peck is a month older than him and with zero championship experience last year has made himself a mainstay of our team.Imagine finishing your apprenticeship or just coming out of uni and being binned off in your 1st few days at work for not being as good as those who've been doing the job for years.
Fair play to Sydie, but a lot were saying 6 games ago that he wasn't ready and should be out on loan. This is fine and but Arblaster had been out a year, barely kicked a ball. Sydie was underperforming but I'm not sure he's ever put in a performance as bad as Matos or SoumareFair play to Sydie, but a lot were saying 6 games ago that he wasn't ready and should be out on loan.
Give em time I say.
But that's not an accurate analogy.Imagine finishing your apprenticeship or just coming out of uni and being binned off in your 1st few days at work for not being as good as those who've been doing the job for years.
Fair points but think its early to put him in the not good enough category quite yet .But that's not an accurate analogy.
Matos is not finishing his apprenticeship or just coming out of an academy. He is a 3rd year pro who has played 39 Championship games and one in the PL. He is young, yes, but so are other players in our squad who are starting.
He was not signed as "one for the future". When he was signed, we had no midfield, basically, aside from Peck. We needed him to be ready now, not in 2 or 3 years. And he does not look up to that task, and it is fair comment to say this.
BTW if I am wrong and he was signed for the future that makes our transfer strategy this summer even more stupid, if such a thing is possible.
Matos was at Luton from U9 to U11, moved to Norwich for U12 to U18 and then had two years at Chelsea in their U21s. He's also been shunted about, spending most of his academy career as an attacking midfielder or #10 before dropping back toa ball winning #6 when on loan at Huddersfield and Oxford. This is fine and but Arblaster had been out a year, barely kicked a ball. Apologies on that one - makes it all the more confusing as to what Chelsea saw in him a couple of years back?Matos was at Luton from U9 to U11, moved to Norwich for U12 to U18 and then had two years at Chelsea in their U21s. That’s all well and good, but some people always need a scapegoat, don’t they. That, and the way that some of them express their opinions, provides a fascinating insight into their emptiness and inadequacy as people.Fair points but think its early to put him in the not good enough category quite yet .
He's had a difficult start but to get to where he is he must have something and show it it training .
Not sure its a lack of talent but needs some composure , looks far too eager at the moment.
Given he was responding to me, are your comments also aimed at me?That’s all well and good, but some people always need a scapegoat, don’t they. That, and the way that some of them express their opinions, provides a fascinating insight into their emptiness and inadequacy as people.
No. It was a general observation. Yours are not posts that fit what I was talking about, and I’m sure you recognise those that do.Given he was responding to me, are your comments also aimed at me?
I don’t think your comment has much merit as a general observation either, FWIW. But I will leave it there.No. It was a general observation. Yours are not posts that fit what I was talking about, and I’m sure you recognise those that do.
We’ve seen many snap judgments made on players that have gone on to become legends down the years. Usually from individuals who falsely think that they are knowledgeable about football and they are keen to share that knowledge with others. Will Matos eventually make a few more people look like idiots? It’s certainly possible. It's fine to say a football player isn't very good when all the evidence is he isn't very good without any deeper meaning or psychology
He's been way off it and won't get many other chances if we have a full selection of players to pick from.
Luckily for him and unfortunately for us I suspect he'll be involved tomorrow as blaster can't play a lot after a year out, peck is injured and illness is in the camp.
I don’t much care what you or anyone else thinks of my comments. If I did my posting history on here would look very different.I don’t think your comment has much merit as a general observation either, FWIW. But I will leave it there.
It is alas the fickle finger of the football supporter .We’ve seen many snap judgments made on players that have gone on to become legends down the years. most peoole who have played will tell you that if you have not played much, and/or lack confidence, you play your way into the game. I have had managers tell me to keep it simple in the first 10 mins, both as a starter and as sub. You get the feel of the game and if it goes well, you build confidence to then try more adventurous stuff. Of course a young me, thinking I was Tony fcking Agana, wouldnt listen, would try tricks and then get a bollocking if they didnt come offLikes a sideways / backwards pass doesn't he?!
When he did try a through ball on Tuesday night...........well, the less said about that the better!
