Sorry no pod this week. We were due to record today but my mum was taken into hospital overnight so I've been there all night and am heading back up this afternoon . Hopefully normal service is resumed next week.

Best wishes to you all - hope she's ok.

All the best to your mum, you, and your family Roy. xx

Anyone else getting notifications from Apple suggesting every Bladespod in the back catalogue has just been released?

Thought there was a new pod out this morning, then realised it was one from 2019. Followed by dozens more…. 🤔
Yes, but not just Bladespod episodes - there's a few other shows as well. Probably just Apple Podcast App being useless again

Hi all, thanks for your patience as family and work meant we didn't have time to record an episode last week - here's one now talking about Stoke, Leeds, Boro and the tributes to George Baldock that took place on Saturday. Cheers for listening as always.

Thank you guys once again. Enjoyed that. I think you were a bit harsh on the Boro performance. We could have easily have scored a couple of goals in that game which could have made things a lot more interesting. Leeds game we certainly got what we deserved which was nothing!

I’m glad you raised the point about how George’s death will have impacted Wilder especially. So many threads criticising him after the Leeds / Boro matches. Can anyone imagine how hard his job has been juggling his own emotions, dealing with the welfare of the players (and former players I’m sure), staff at the club and also being the figurehead and spokesman for SUFC. No surprise if his prep wasn’t spot on for these games.
Thanks for the great work guys.

Afternoon S2,

New pod is out - Roygbiv joins me to discuss two very satisfying away wins, albeit for different reasons, the last step in Vini Souza's redemption story, Rob Earnshaw talking nonsense, and Sunday's game. Cheers for listening, UTB!

Excellent. I’m sat in the car while my old mum and step dad get their cat put down.

You can be my soundtrack to death 👍🏻

Rob Earnshaw's nonsense had me questioning my sanity, let alone my eyes! Thank you for validating this :)

Mistake to like before hearing you slagging off Scottish football again 😂 I think Hamilton Academicals and Rangers/Celtic slander is fair tbh.

Ryan Oné call up it’s coming 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Cheers boys, pod excellent as normal.

Glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed Earnshaw waffling on about nothing!

I really enjoyed that , thank you. I’m confident will will get a positive result on Sunday. If we’re at it, we will be too strong for them.

Enjoyable. Some thoughts:

1 I missed the Bristol City game and am regretting it due to Roy’s description of Earnshaw’s commentary. I hope we get him again. Mind you, the impression sounded like Michael Holding!

2. I’ve always liked Jonathan Pearce because he knows about the EFL and is a good EFL commentator,, unlike many of his peers.

3. As I said to an Owls fan of my acquaintance yesterday I have no feel for how the derby will go, because Wednesday are arguably the most unpredictable team in the division. They are capable of beating us and also capable of getting thrashed. Teams with similar records haven’t laid a glove on us at the Lane but God knows with them.

4. I would query the assertion that they have more big game experience. More than half of our players were in the PL or Championship promotion races last season.

5. I hate derbies.

Hello all,

An extended pod to close out the international break, as firstly Roygbiv joins me to hand out some early season awards - POTS, best/worst moment, best signing, biggest surprise, and a few others, and also discuss our game with Coventry. Then, I'm joined again by Rainbow Blades' vice-chair Anna Kent to catch up on the first half of Sheffield United Women's season, as well as England returning to Bramall Lane in a few weeks. Thanks very much to Royston and Anna, and to anyone who listens!

Spare a thought for your Scottish football correspondents who have watched two games in the international break where the commentators keep referring to the fact “Lyndon Dykes hasn’t found his scoring boots for League One Birmingham City”. Every time reminded me that he’d scored against us ☹️

Enjoyable pod as per usual, thanks.

When Andrew was discussing player of the season so far, a couple of times he said "Souttar, Cooper" and it sounded like the start of a chant.

So with apologies in advance to Abba, for the not quite rhyming last line and just in general...

"Souttar, Cooper,
Anel Ahmedhodzic,
Gilchrist and Burrows,
That is why we'll never lose"

Ha! I thought EXACTLY the same thing. Well, at least the first two lines...

Classic blades pod foreshadowing moment - discussion about not hearing anything about Blaster’s injury probably meaning good news…

One thought on the Women’s team; watching them really gives me flashbacks to the men’s side last season - even when they do play well, the final 15 minutes is a disaster zone. But I’m not expecting the collapse in morale we saw in the men - the margins are far tighter.

Oh and on England, it’s £40 for my seat for a friendly. I know it’s England, but it’s not a competitive game. Maybe it’s just me being allergic to friendlies but if it doesn’t sell out, I think the pricing a big mistake.
