Hello from a Bristol City fan

Ahead of our forthcoming game I’m putting together the opening post for our forum’s (One Team in Bristol, https://www.otib.co.uk/?_fromLogin=1) match thread, which will be posted the day before the match.

I would like to include some perspectives from your fans so if anybody would like to share info please do, anything would be appreciated, fans thoughts about the game, players who have represented both clubs, tales from when we’ve met previously, a fans view on your season, etc.

Look forward to receiving info and to a great game.

I hate Bristol City.

I have hated them since I was 10 years old and they relegated us in a play off game in 1988 and decided there and then that I hated Bristol City, and I’m impressed that 36 years later that I’ve managed to hold on to the wonderfully irrational bitterness.

Hope this helps

My first game at BL was v Bristol City Sept 1970 in our promotion season . We were 3-0 down and came back to draw 3-3 , this game was the true catalyst for me becoming a devoted Unitedite and is the root cause of joy and grief beyond belief in almost equal measures ever since .

When we drew 1-1 in 2022, I slipped and fell and smashed my back on the concourse in the away end. Compo claim got turned down because "fans had soaked the floor in beer".

Met YorkBlade though, lovely fella.

Spent a lot of time in Bristol over the years as I've got family there...also lived there for just over a year...and always preferred the Gasheads if I'm honest!

Bristol is the most over-rated city in the country - It's a Brighton wannabe full of woke snowflakes. I know that's not much help for your website, but it's informative for those who fortunately don't live here.
You managed to shoe horn some right-wing politics into ANOTHER thread. You’re dedicated to the cause, I’ll give you that.

Surprised at this - always thought it was a cracking city, loads of history and really strong local economy / employment! More importantly, good on the piss!

Blades and Rovers have an affiliation and I’ve spent some memorable days and nights down there- not least the night before the Wolves play-off final under a hail of Wetherspoons cutlery on the bridge 😂

I remember that wonderful Watney Cup final and what seemed like hours of mayhem. Oddly liked Rovers since then.

Bristol City v Cardiff is one of those “derbys” where you want them both to lose.

Like many on here, I remember the play off game in 88 where we lost and there was shed loads of scrapping afterwards.
Love Bristol though - lived there for a bit. Is the Highbury Vaults still open? Cracking boozer. Watched City a few times but had a soft spot for Rovers (it’s the underdog thing).
For what it’s worth, in my opinion, dumping statues of slave traders into the docks is to be applauded.

Is it possible to walk down any street in Bristol during daylight hours with having to take cover from various Parkour youtubers?

True - It's a good place for a piss-up.....perhaps I am being a little harsh.

Key reflections:

Ivan Sproule was a funny name.
I quite liked your purple and green away kits, unlike others.
I liked how you've had a few bonkers GK kits.
I like driving past your city on the way to holiday, and looking at the new cars awaiting registration in the docks, from the motorway bridge.

Well firknell.
So THAT'S how Roygbiv does it?
'Thanks for all your hard work Roy', 'Must take you ages Roy', 'Top man going to the trouble to do this Roy'
The man's a fraud!
All he does is sit back, and nibble on his free chip butties while watching the quotes come rolling in from others doing all the hard work!!
Well that's it, there's no more likes from me for a week or two

I remember meeting you, how are you now with your back?
Such a shame you didn't get the compensation, that sounds unfair.

Was there too, was in a pub with Paul Heaton and all his cronies when it got attacked.

Then plastic chairs for some reason were launched across the avon at each other.

If any site relies on the replies to this OP then it would not be very informative !!
