Just read Millwall have offered Tanganga a new contract. Surely we could do something there if theres no serious PL interest for him.

The low release clause is only to the premier league. I think they’re offering him a new deal to protect themselves and take that out too.

He’d be awesome but I don’t think they’d sell him to us for short of a big fee.

Would love him though

Yeah but I was thinking if we go in and make an offer it might be better than them losing him for nothing. Not sure how long a contract he signed originally. If no PL club wants him maybe we could just get him for whatever we could sell AA for.

Exactly - If the PL release clause is 5m, and we offer 7m then its a better deal for them surely. Because if he doesn't sign the new deal theres always that risk they could lose him Aug 31st for the lower amount and not be able to re-invest.

Anel was one of the best CB's in the championship last season playing in an unfamiliar role on the left alongside Souttar. Again one of the best playing in a 3 with Egan when we were promoted to the EPL. He's the type of player that needs an experienced CB alongside him and thats not JLT. We'll never know if Holding would have been the answer last season but imo that partnership would have got us promoted. Anels strength is his pace and reading of the game. He also causes oppo defences problems when he runs at them. He benefited on the left from having Burrows behind him resulting in the oppo sitting much deeper for fear of him getting past them. Yes he's not the strongest and does get out muscled but he's better than anything we have at the moment by some distance.

If he wants to go then we have to sell. We cant afford to lose the money. The question is does he? There has been radio silence on a key players contract situation and questions should be being asked by the media of the manager just as they have been about Hamer. A decision needs to be made now. We cant have him starting well and the teams good start is disrupted on transfer deadline day when we sell him at the 11th hour. Sporting Director where are you?

The Sporting Director is in the same place as the Director of Football and if Bettis gets his way we won't be having one anytime soon.

Personal negotiations are reportedly in full swing. At the same time, the Rotterdam side is reportedly preparing an opening bid. According to FootballTransfers, Ahmedhodzic has a transfer value of €14.7 million.

Going into a new season with Robinson and Bindon and as centre backs and only crippled RND as back up…..

sometimes we come across as not a serious football club.
I'd keep my powder dry ,rumours on some random football account ,and I'm sure our recruitment people have things in hand.anyway windy day for the wet sheets

If it's this much and the rumours is true then he's gone. I would bloody hope so anyway with only 1 year of his contract left. We could buy 2 new decent Championship CBs with this amount.

Well not get anything like that for him. Doubt we'd get half.

Tend to agree, I'd be amazed if we managed to get more than £5/6million for him given his contract situation. Plus Dutch teams just don't shell that much out for players.

Not sure we are in a position to lose him as we have a pretty shitty CB offering with Anel, new lad Bindon, Robbo and RND. That is piss poor if we have any intentions of PL next season.

Unless United are secretly rolling in cash which doesn’t appear to be the case then the club need to sell him this summer his value is only depreciating now until his contract expires and I’m not sure the club can afford to lose a valuable asset for nothing as you’d then need either to acquire a similarly valuable asset on a free or rely on an owner injection of cash to acquire that asset from a squad building point of view.

Better to trade him now and use the money raised to acquire an asset which will appreciate in value and help the team in the pitch this season.

Would rather see him stop, sign a new contract and us sign a permanent CH who is dominant to play alongside him. But if the fee rumours are true then it's a good deal as long as we get 2 quality CB's in we would then need. Would 100% need to be 2 though, I refuse to believe anyone with any football knowledge thinks RND is a centre half Baptiste needs a loan out to league 2 and Sasnaukas who by all accounts is a long way from championship ready.

Feyernood would be a really good move for Anel, I think he'd excel there.
A team used to dominating, therefore an opportunity for him to bring the ball out of defence, far less physical than the PL, European football, huge club / stadium / fans.

I think we only paid £4/5m for him.
With 1 year left on his deal his book value must be circa £1m, so if this materialises, we'll have done pretty well out of him.

I thought £13m for Souza was about par for the course.
£6.5m for Anel (with add-ons, sell-ons etc. on top) might be about right for this one?

If we get something close to £10m, I'll be shocked and impressed.

I just hope we have everything agreed on our replacement (Tanganga / Hughes?) before letting him out.

All depends on the money. Anything less than £5m we might as well keep him and let his contract run out At least we would have him for the season.

Aye
Which prompts the question
Do we “come across as not a serious football club” because (some of) our fanbase come across as not serious football fans (who’s default setting’ is habitual disparagement & desolation)?
