Really hope Ched can rediscover his form.

He seriously has to hit the ground running. From minute 1.

12+ goals b4 Xmas might see him back with us. Anything less, it’s most probably bonjour !!

We need to just get rid of Evans......why he was brought back I will never understand?.....we all know....even the Ched deluded ones......that he is no where near good enough and his level is league 1

Thank fuck we're paying him peanuts in relative terms

He was good enough once mate, that's for sure. He played at the highest levels of the game. And in his final season for us (not the previous ones obviously) he was simply unplayable. On a par with anything I've seen in a number 9 shirt for United in years.

It's a tragedy what happened to him. But a self-induced tragedy all the same. And I can understand folks not having any sympathy for him. What a stupid thing to get caught up in. But let's be reight, he was a very good footballer at the top of his form. Formidable.

As to why we brought him back...I don't know if we'll ever know the full story, but I was happy to see him given another chance. I saw that as a low-risk option for us. It hasn't worked out. Time has moved on. He'll probably never be the player he was. I'll remember him fondly though for the excitement and entertainment he gave us in his last season here under Wilson. I hope the lad can have a successful end to his playing career.

He was very poor for us in the Championship even before his enforced break. It was sheer folly to believe he'd ever cut it at that level again, so long after that one spell at Norwich.

As soon as the news is leaked that a club is interested in him the shitstorm starts the do gooders and moralisers pile in and the buying club back out.

Wasn’t he our top scorer in a team that created nothing the season we went down? And before that we had Blackwell. His first time to be played properly was with Wilson. He was premiership quality never mind championship.

Top scorer in an awful side. Like being tallest midget.

He has never been remotely close to Premiership quality, one good season at League One level or no.

Doesn’t work like that, to score as many goals as he did in an “Awful side” is an achievement. Sharp couldn’t score under Blackwell either.

He played better in league one than a lot of our premier league squad did.

It's not that great an achievement, David Kelly was once our top scorer with six goals in the second tier and no-one talks about him like he's the second coming. For the record, Evans scored a mighty nine goals in all competitions that year. He'd scored four the year before.

I admit he was unplayable in League One (literally for the last few games, alas) but he was an abject failure for us in the Championship and a big reason why we went down. There was absolutely no reason beyond blind sentiment for anyone thinking he'd be a success back in the Championship after so many years out. A league he hadn't performed well in for nine years at that point.

Again the reason he wasn’t banging them in was the same reason sharp wasn’t. Style of play and a poor midfield. He was clearly very talented, which he proved under Wilson. There was a chance he could return close to the standards of before, his fitness was too hard to come back from and we out grew the signing fast as all our other strikers were firing. As it stands it’s cost us bugger all, he didn’t disrupt the players like some said he would (quite the opposite) and we may yet get a fee back as he impressed in league one last season.

He’s in the last year of his contract. His wages will probably be high relatively speaking for a League 1 club. The fact he’s being mooted for a loan with Oxford would suggest all we’re likely to get is a chunk of his wages covered before he’s released next summer.

We will see as people get desperate, his wages won’t be too high.

We will be more than keen to get rid of all the listed players. Wilder doesn’t like a big group of players at the best of times, and with the added maximum squad size we’re far more likely to strike a deal to ease their exit than have panic bids flying in for players. The only one I expect any sort of money for is Clarke and possibly Heneghan, simply because of his age more than anything else.

I don’t disagree, it is more likely he we would move on a free. Our issue with how fast we moved up is we still have players a distance off where we are now. Part of me goes get them off the wage bill, the other part says they are still assets we should get money for. The likes of your man United’s still expect good deals for there players even if it’s relatively peanuts to the overall picture.

Looks like I'm on the minority, but I don't see why anyone would have the right to think they would get him for free.

I don't recall many 1 in 2 strikers coming to us for nothing.

He scored 17 goals last season and was 7th highest scorer in the division and 18 in 42 overall in a team on limited resources.

Exactly a goalscorer that gets more than 15 goals a season is worth something even at that level.

His salary is the issue for L1 sides, probably now even higher as we are in the PL
Same as Curruthers and Holmes, in reality we will give them free transfers to get them off the payroll and have to pay them off to subsidise the pay shortfall on the final year of there contract
No way will L1 sides pay a transfer fee for these players, we just need to get them moved on

Any idea where he is off? hoping Oxford but as above looks like Fleetwood are front runners.
