Again, I don’t think that’s likely as a scenario. We will bring new players in (possibly not the ones top of Wilder’s list) for that position that will inevitably limit his opportunities. We then have two options: 1) keep him to play in the league cup, and come into the squad when injuries/suspensions of those ahead of him in the pecking order come up, or 2) loan him out, get him in a position where he’s playing, injury-free, confident and scoring, and then reassess in January.

Luckily, it looks like Wilder is proceeding with option 2 – the best scenario.

Problem is, unless United have pulled off some amazing deals I cannot see who we can bring in who will improve our strike force. Obviously I haven't scouted anybody for real but all the names mooted so far really don't have great stats and even the clips of them scoring show players of average ability.

I can't speak for the other two, but if I was CE, I wouldn't stop laughing. I'd be laughing when I went to bed, I'd be laughing in my sleep & i'd be waking up laughing. On the books of a championship club, drawing a wage and the last goal I scored was in 2016 in League 1. He either knows where the bodies are buried or he's got some cracking photos of someone doing something that they shouldn't.
