Absolutely in agreement that he needs game time. He was out the game for years. His body obviously has needed a very long time to get back to any sort of fitness suitable for this level. (Thus his injuries).
How about we look at Ched with a different view? Yes, he did something stupid and let a lot of people down. BUT, he was acquitted. He didn't do anything against the law to warrant a jail sentence.
I don't think that Ched will ever get to a point where he will be fit enough and/or good enough to play for us. I think, potentially, United and CW know that. How about looking at him with a view that Sheffield United have given him a chance and platform to rebuild his life and career which he wasn't really going to get with Chezzy. A bit like Jose Baxter has had with Everton taking him on. Maybe, just maybe, United have put an arm around him and given him, like a father would to a son, help and support. Not just footballing and fitness. Mental health perhaps. He has gone through a hell of a lot. Maybe guidance and help with a post football career and coaching qualifications? Would it not make you proud to be a supporter of a club that treats its staff and human beings that way?
I know we don't owe Ched anything and he earns plenty of money, but he is still human. Perhaps we never intended or believed (maybe hoped) that he would ever get back playing for us.
I don't think we should be expecting, getting annoyed or frustrated with him. He's rebuilding his life and career and I'd like to think that Sheffield United Football Club are potentially supporting him to do that.
If he goes out on loan to a lower end championship or league one team and earns himself a transfer then United will have done just that. If he comes back in awesome shape and slots in then huge bonus for us. We may have paid money for him but if it was to pay off then it was a bargain. If it doesn't then we use it as an opportunity to turn his life around.
I know plenty of people will disagree with me and maybe i'm living in a fantasy world, but i'd like to think that is what United are doing for him.
For me, don't expect anything from Ched and don't get angry or frustrated that he hasn't made it back. Live in my fantasy world and be proud of the club and happy for the lad that he's been given a chance.
