and if we do, we'll be leaving it late in the window, which means we'll lose value for money as prices go up the closer to the end of the window, as teams don't want to sell on the last day because they'll need to replace them, so i'm question the clubs decision (if we sign anyone) as to why are we leaving our business late?

Signing a couple of players could be the difference between finishing 6th or 7th.

We're getting our just deserts for not getting the right business done in the summer.

"Getting our business right in the summer", i.e the Barney Plan would've meant not signing the teams top scorer.

You were comprehensively shown up on this point on Tuesday, like you have been on pretty much everything else.

Repeating yourself against the facts doesn't change them. It just makes you look like a total cockwomble.

Heed this friendly advice.

I have to wonder how many wages we have to get rid of before we can start adding to the wage bill again?

You don't think we recruited well in the summer?
Well why the bloody hell haven't you mentioned it before?
Have a look at your status message.

Then pick up your iron, and admit you regret every word you've just typed.

Your best post thus far - love it.

No team in the division completed all the recruitment they wanted in the summer, we are no different, People forget Adkins said it would take 2/3 transfer windows to build a squad of players he wanted to achieve the goals set at his appointment.

Have a look at any post you've made in the last 3 months, and then just copy and paste it onto your next thread.

It will save you a whole lot of time.

Any chance you three could either discover the joys of private messaging or just sod off back to Blades Mad???

Whilst you all make good points as and when this constant need to drag threads into "I won, no ,I won , no , I won your Mam" is getting a bit tiresome now.

Rattled? By you? :D

You'd have trouble rattling your own medication.
I'd change your status message if I were you.

While ever that's there you're going to be continually digging yourself quite a large hole.

Up to you.

Fair point. I'll exit this one here. Pete likes arguing. He won't ever give in until you get so bored you stop replying anyway. Quite the sad act.

Strange, after Port Vale away he said we'd finish top of the league.

We've got a lot of players whose contracts are not up until summer 2016.

How could Adkins 'get rid' if they're just prepared to sit their contracts out? Posted ths before, but it's only now said players are getting off their arses and thinking about earning new contracts for next season at other clubs.

Yep, McCabe/Prince could have paid their contracts up and started again...at great expense, which, I'm guessing, would have had a very negative impact on the caliber of player Adkins would have been able to bring in.

We'll give it a go if we land in the play off's, but realistically, summer 2016 is going be Adkins testing ground.

UTB!

Since he has been at the Lane Mr Adkins has come out with so many 'statements' the majority of them being 'Total Bollocks' !
  • His interviews say nothing of any substance despite WHF 'fawning' over his every word he seems to utter!
  • Always coming out with 'Manager Speak' when a few home truths would be more beneficial
  • His record is no better than the previous regime
  • He states that most Blades fans don't understand the footballing skills of his pet player Dean Hammond
  • The squad is not good enough to win promotion
  • The team will finish top of the league
  • The team work well in training despite them appearing to 'Not have a clue what to do with throw ins and free kicks in a match situation' !
His recruitment policy is flawed if Woolford, Sammon Edgar and Hammond are the best he can come up with - I take Sharp out of the equation as he is running his blood to water for the club !

Sorry, Mr Adkins - You have flattered to deceive - Perhaps Reading was a far better barometer to your skills that Scunthorpe and Southampton appear to have been !

Show me one manager who regularly does an interview and lays everything on the table, without using any clichés whatsoever.

That must be a joke comment about taking Sharp out of the equation? Your basically saying Adkins gets no credit for bringing in Sharp because he's done well.

Not sure which logic book you have been reading to come to that assumption ! I stated that Sharp should be taken out of the category of 'Bad Buys by the Manager' as he has done well, but, one out of five is not a good ratio is it ? Also, don't mind the odd cliche but his interviews are rammed with them !

I love the logic that suggests that we completely discount his huge achievements with Southampton and Scunthorpe because we've not run away with this league and because Reading (currently 14th) didn't either.

It's astounding.

There is an old saying Mr Pete Blade, 'You are as good as your last job' unfortunately, that was Reading, not Scunthorpe or Southampton !

We're getting our just deserts

What is it Barney? Steamed treacle sponge and custard? That was my favourite! Don't be naughty and annoy the dinner ladies! :)

That saying usually doesn't make much sense.
Which is why Jose Mourinhio will land another top job and not consigned to the scrap heap due to Chelsea's performance this season.

Adkins will start winning over fans , when we are consistent in winning football matches . At this moment us fans have no idea if we will win , lose or draw whoever we are playing be it top or bottom of the league. The frustration for me is Adkins appears to be exactly the same as us .

His interviews to me are becoming one dimensional and sometimes desperate IMO. In saying that we have to stick with him as we have no infrastructure policy were you can change managers numerous times in a season and still be successful as per Watford.

To me we are set up as a team to avoid relegation not promotion , but as Adkins says , what do us fans know.

UTB

Unfortunately, football does have that ability to keep giving managers a chance that have failed time and time again !
In normal life, you are judged on your most recent performance not what you did three or four years ago !
