I’m a bit bemused how we think Everton and Forest, two of our relegation rivals (especially if they get points deductions) would be so keen to help us out and why players not good enough for them will somehow help us leapfrog them!

Call their bluff.

It’ll cost Everton the best part of £2m to have him sat at home until the end of the season.

I’m sure we could find some better options also.
He’s on loan at Southampton…

Or it’s a cunning plan to get both clubs fighting the other to sell (given their needs to balance books) while we go elsewhere in the meantime.

On your first point: because they're both in the shit financially and any offer to get a highly paid but unwanted player off the books will be considered. On your second: they may not be considered as good enough for Forest/Everton but they're better than our options.

As an aside: those discounting Holgate as too small might need to realise that at 184cm (6'½") he's 4cm taller than Jack Robinson (180cm / 5'11") and only 1cm shorter than John Egan (185cm / 6'1").

May be they know how crap he is and and being in the Blades side would help them when he drops a few bollocks playing for us . All of a sudden Everton seems to have backed off their up front payment demand for Holgate ,they must be desperate to get him out of the door . Also looking how many times he has played for the Saints they are not to impressed with him either .

I don't think Forest are looking over their shoulder at us - love to think they were. Going to take a hell of a points deduction for us to be rivals. If they've any concerns about being caught I imagine it's about Luton and to a lesser degree Burnley.

From Carlo Ancelotti:

“I did not know Mason before I came here and I was surprised by him,”

“He showed in this period a lot of quality defensively, he is really focused in his defensive work.

“He has the quality to be at the top as a defender.

“He is fast, strong physically and good with his head.

“He is a complete defender.

“He is really young and wants to improve.

“He has made no mistakes in the games [under Ancelotti], nothing serious.

“If he retains his focus, he can go to the top.

“I think he is going to have a fantastic career.”

Maybe there's a really good player in there. Maybe just needs the right environment/manager.

Carlo who? Sounds like a no nowt.

Well it completely proves your point wrong where you say

“It’ll cost Everton the best part of £2m to have him sat at home until the end of the season.”

When he’s on loan at Southampton and they will be paying a lot of his wages.

You mean like 10, which Everton got?

So something went wrong then. Nevermind, not out problem. Ancelotti clearly not mystic meg on this one then.

Well can Forest or Everton afford to turn down offers at the moment.

If Wilder is seriously interested in him then I think he is probably the best person to get the best out of him.

Both unwilling to address their issues when the opportunity arises.

Tut tut. Should be held against them when it comes to ruling on future points.

An alternative to Holgate. Viking's slovenian international David Brekalo is regarded as the best centre half playing in Norway. He's 24 year old, 6'2, physique like Egan, aggressive, quite fast and calm on the ball. Helped keep Haaland quiet in a 0-0 draw a while ago. At the moment he's disappointed Viking have rejected a bid from Orlando and there's an obvious conflict between him and the club. He had groin surgery a bit before Christmas, so that's obviously something to consider.

And most importantly he's from South Yorkshire 😄👍

I just hope we do some good business that we can look back on with some logic.

What I don’t want is to end up flogging Anel because “it was too good a deal for the football club to turn down” and then paying an out of favour (at a Championship club) loanee about 65k per week to replace him.

I hope we don’t. But I wouldn’t be surprised.

It wouldn’t shock me of we weren’t trying to send Archer back either given Wilder seems to fancy Osula more.
