We will probably need to double or possibly triple what we are currently offering

Which is exactly what he did last season .

Obviously he would not be able to replicate that in the PL but even 50% would see him well ahead of anyone we have , Traore excepted as he’s a complete unknown at this level .

If teams thought he could score 14 prem goals next season he wouldn’t be coming to us for £8 mill

No probs everyone has an opinion but how much have you seen of him, he played really well at the lane which I appreciate is just one game but why not? Have you watched him a lot to have such a strong opinion?
He’s had 1 good season in 10 years, he’s currently got a knee injury and hasn’t played since May would be a shocking waste of funds in my opinion

I was talking about salary. We’ve offered him 18k a week.
I don't know where u get your info from but its laughable to think he'd move to the PL for less than he's currently on or 18k a week.

So either our recruitment team have no idea what they are up to, you are being fed false info or you are making it up

Can’t argue with his goals tally but for some reason I didikehi. I think he comes across as a big headed twat

Wouldn’t be so bad though if he was our big headed twat 😊

Looking like we ain’t going to get either. We’ll certainly Akom if we aren’t offering a PL salary

If the above is true it's baffling.

We've just lost Ndiaye, Mcburnie is injured and we look like starting the season with two youngsters up front who weren't deemed good enough to feature regularly in the division below... And we're trying to get the championship top scorer to take a wage cut to join us!?

No wonder Hecky was saying the board need to get on with it.

They’re not exactly queuing down Cherry Street to sign the ones we already have .

It’s all relative .

So it's definate, we are asking him to take a wage cut, 100% correct is it?

I can get on board if the fee is c£8 million

It’s only marginally more expensive than loaning someone for 3 years in a row if we gave him a 3 year contract

pL loan fees would be a couple of million I imagine. Everton are wanting a million for cannon on loan in the championship as an example. Wouldn’t wanting to be paying any more given his age and lack of success under wilder

There is absolutely no evidence that he has ever said that he doesn’t want to come here , but merely that he would be happy to stay at his present club .

This is a statement which has been made by hundreds if not thousands of players throughout the ages , often just prior to their departure .

Personally , I hope he does join us and if so he will have my full support and believe that he will be a success and that he offers something which none of our current strikers possess .

My main concern is that he is currently carrying a knee injury and we all know where that can go .
Think he'd fit in well with the other crocks we've got then 😊

We are trying but villa want bodies in up front. It will go down to the wire. We really really want akpom though so the prince is gonna have to put his hand in his pocket to pay the salary he wants

We’ve agreed a fee with boro but akpom as of last night isn’t interested

We have a few more irons in the fire though should we not get him but he’s our number 1 target

I sincerely hope he’s not our No.1 target.

I dont know how to check but didnt he really out perform his Xg , im sure i read it somewhere last season when boro were our rival for autos

Odd one this, particularly the rumour of not wanting to come to the lane. If there's absolutely any truth to the wage talk from the apparent ITK, then that's obviously the main reason. Initially I was thinking why no other clubs had gone in for him, specifically from the Premier League. Burnley have bought Amdouni for 18m who's a CAM/FW and also Obafemi. Luton have bought Chong and got Ogbene on a free. The likelihood of them splashing cash elsewhere isn't out the question but it seems like they're happy with those positions along with retained players from last season. Realistically, what other Premier League club would go for him at the moment? Bournemouth possibly but not heard anything. Everton are skint. Forest have more players than league 2 on the books. Other teams have much better already. If the lad truly wanted to play in the Premier League, this would be a good (possibly only) move for him. Although Borough did well last season, this season should be much harder for them with Leicester, Southampton and dare I say Leeds thrown into the mix, so no guarantees of domestic success. Whilst yes, we're always going to be in the talk of a relegation battle, why not take up the challenge, smack a clause in the contract and fuck off to better pastures if we come down? With Ndiaye gone and Akpom being able to play up top or just behind, it's essentially guaranteed game time in the top flight providing his biscuit legs hold up.

In 8 fewer matches he scored twice as many goals as Ndiaye. Lagging 2 to 11 on assists but he was potent last year.

Easy to dismiss as a flash in the pan I know, but what if he isn’t?

He put scorer Gyokeres 4 to 3 as well.

We aren’t going to get exact like for like. You won’t warm to someone who isn’t regarded as one of your own to some degree.

But if he is available at a decent fee then getting the top scorer from the prior season isn’t the worst deal.

I think I read surprisingly that he attempted more dribbles than Ndiaye or something of that nature.

In terms of replacement Iliman feels irreplaceable but whoever comes in, let’s not dismiss them immediately.
Well said mate ,with our budget he would be good value and a realistic target.

If we've really offered him 18k then what a bunch of amateurs we have running things

Maybe low ball clubs initially with the fee, but not with the players wage demands - especially by offering less than he's already on 😂

I was talking about salary. We’ve offered him 18k a week.
no wonder he doesnt want to come 18k a week for a striker that scored 28 championship goals last season we really are a tinpot club when it comes to salaries

If it smells like bullshit,it’s bullshit alright. Were you holding Mr Bettiss’ pocket like teabags mate in Prison break when you were privy to the conversation. Bullshit I tell thi .

I think the fact we're signing players from abroad by the looks of it means that most players will just be desperate to come to the PL, and within out budget I think the players we're after would just be desperate to come. Those like Axel Tuanzabe and Ainsley Maitland-Niles may be harder to sign because they'll have other PL options you'd have thought, certainly the latter but I think United are still a good proposition for many players who want to join. A team that's got promoted, even without Iliman, I think is something players will want to be a part of. The relegation wages decrease is something that will put some off but I think we can't go without that until we are established and even then it's risky to not plan for the Championship based on the size of the club and current budget.
Sums it up perfect mate .
