I agree. They didn’t even seem to think about itThis. A million times. After having just watched that live, the men's game is, with honorable exceptions, a total embarrassment.
Oh I agree that can happen across sport when chasing. I just think it’s a common occurrence from what I’ve seen.In this instance I think it was because in the last 10 minutes it essentially became a Cup game. I'm not up to speed at all on the details and this might be wrong but I think the Swiss needed to score to go through. They certainly seemed to be playing that way and taking a lot of risks (also hadn't they made 5 subs?). They were all set up for attacking, not set up for defending; the Dutch seemed to bring on some very good players, eg 22(?) and others, who were more than capable of taking advantage.
Got tickets for France v Holland. That could be a really good game.
Just got back. A really enjoyable atmosphere with wife and child in tow. On the standard in general I had a few observations:
1. The level of technique on display is really good in the gaps between first touch and final ball. Some skilful players on display, well coached. I’d say League 1 as a standard, which is well ahead of schedule.
2. The game is noticeably slower and less physical. There were attacking situations that were allowed to continued that should have had the door slammed shut through brute force.
3. Not a hint of diving or even a sense of it. Every physical encounter was fought honestly.
4. Couple the slower pace with largely good technique you’d think first touch and final ball would be nearly perfect, but it isn’t, in fact it’s the opposite. Lots of poor passes, finishes and first touches. I think this is indicative of the professional aspect of the game being really young.
5. There seems to be a capitulation problem across the game which certainly fuels the high scorelines. You could see in real time, the Swiss almost give up when they went 2-1 down and gifted a couple more, it could have easily ended 6-1. I know the NI manager got in trouble for suggesting an emotional aspect to goals coming in batches. I definitely think it’s an issue the game needs to address (somehow). It does them a disservice to ignore it.
I definitely enjoyed it though.
I’ve been really impressed with the standard which is starting to become indicative of professional levels of training rather than players who go to work 5 days a week. Spain last night imparticular stood out in the way they move the ball around.Just got back. A really enjoyable atmosphere with wife and child in tow. The Swiss number 10 was excellent and wouldn't look out of place in League One.I’ve been really impressed with the standard which is starting to become indicative of professional levels of training rather than players who go to work 5 days a week. Technical standard still not at the level of the professional mens game which is to be expected given the womens game was held back in its development for 70 odd years. Also some people mistake a lack of pace and power for a lack of technique…..it’s a completely different game in that regard. The players in the womens Euros certainly seem to have a better first touch than non-league games I’ve been to. Maybe comparable to mens over 35s in that players don’t rely on physical attributes because they don’t have them, and those that do have a significant edge.
Either way I don’t get why people get so worked up about the disparity between mens and womens football….maybe it’s the typical sky sports armchair fan attitude. Personally I enjoy watching football at any level.
this is the song they were playing after the final whistle btw. Great fun

Found em,well sort of they have disappeared.Whe'rez dugahts.
Let's be totally honest, it's womens football played by women. It's a totally different game to mens football so enjoy it for what it is, a game so far off the standard of the men's game it's off the chart.
1. The game is nowhere close to League One standard. Maybe League One of the Bible Class League but not even close to a decent amateur men's league, let alone League One.

I think it's down to the administrators. If they wanted to clean up the men's game they could. There are plenty of high stakes/high value sports where you don't have to sit through extended periods of WWE/gamesmanship.It's the money involvement.
There's little money in the women game, the financial rewards aren't that high, so there's more incentive to play games in the right spirit.
In the mens game it's more of a win at any costs mentality and it's accepted as a positive and the norm.

I was impressed with her. The Dutch number 7 was excellent too.The Swiss number 10 was excellent and wouldn't look out of place in League One.
Really enjoyed that today. Had a few beers in the Frog & Parrot first, big group of Swiss in there and it was great to see so many Dutch & Swiss fans walking past. Went down to the fan park just in time for the Netherlands fan walk and that was fantastic, brilliant to be a part of it.
The game itself was fine, it was just awesome to see Sheffield & Bramall Lane in such a good light. Great day.
Yeh we weren't far away from each other by the looksYou were slightly to the left of me. Bet we were stood next to each other![]()
England v Spain in the quarter finals. I'll be supporting Spain. Although I have a British passport I live in Spain and my partner is Spanish - and I want the Spanish fans to come to Sheffield for the semi final.
If it were the men's tournament there's no way I'd be supporting England's opponents, but for some reason in the women's game it seems okay.
Re womens football. Anyone can look good smashing in great shots. The fundamental difference to the mens game is defending. Basically they are total shite. That's why they get so many goals. Or not, if you're as poor as today's spectacles were.
Culture shock alert ..!!!!The Dutch are in Rotherham for their QF
This could be Rotherham or anywhere....Culture shock alert ..!!!!

Shut up?? Sorry I thought the whole point of a comment platform is to air one's opinions. Oh and to be clear I stopped watching it ages ago. Because in my opinion ( if that's alright with you) it's crap.jesus shut up man, if you think it’s shite don’t watch it and don’t comment on it, see plenty of worse defending in the men’s game daily yet I don’t see anyone claiming it’s because they’re men
