I've thought about this and I really do think it comes down to boobs.

It really does fucking hurt to land on the side of your tit and if you're of the large boobed variety, you've probably got a big massive fuck-off sports bra sticking in your side too.

If anyone wants to research into boob size v. effectiveness of keeper, I'm sure there's PhD funding somewhere.

linz has ruined the goalkeeping in the
tournament 😄, as all i could think about seeing the replays for 1-0. was thinking that northern irish goalkeeper. her tit is going to be in agony

I've had free tickets for the last game and got some more for the game on Sunday. Giving them to a mate. Other day were kop, these are for Laver stand. A4 piece of paper, QR code with seat numbers printed on em.

I’m at BDTBL for this. Cracking atmosphere for 2/3 full. Not the greatest game, but enjoyable enough

No way is there 22k in there tonight with so many empty seats. BL upper / Westfield closed. And Kop corner.

They probably count the 5k sponsors (who will be in the corporate areas eating and drinking) like season ticket holders.

22,596. So extends the record then.

All goes well and it will be England v Sweden.

Shame to not have the Dutch back. Their fans have looked the best but Sweden also been excellent.

Meh, the BBC and all the pundits seem obsessed with telling us how many people are interested in this so I wouldn't be surprised if the figures were massaged slightly.

The Dutch are in Rotherham for their QF

Just got back. A really enjoyable atmosphere with wife and child in tow. On the standard in general I had a few observations:

1. The level of technique on display is really good in the gaps between first touch and final ball. Some skilful players on display, well coached. I’d say League 1 as a standard, which is well ahead of schedule.
2. The game is noticeably slower and less physical. There were attacking situations that were allowed to continued that should have had the door slammed shut through brute force.
3. Not a hint of diving or even a sense of it. Every physical encounter was fought honestly.
4. Couple the slower pace with largely good technique you’d think first touch and final ball would be nearly perfect, but it isn’t, in fact it’s the opposite. Lots of poor passes, finishes and first touches. I think this is indicative of the professional aspect of the game being really young.
5. There seems to be a capitulation problem across the game which certainly fuels the high scorelines. You could see in real time, the Swiss almost give up when they went 2-1 down and gifted a couple more, it could have easily ended 6-1. I know the NI manager got in trouble for suggesting an emotional aspect to goals coming in batches. I definitely think it’s an issue the game needs to address (somehow). It does them a disservice to ignore it.

I definitely enjoyed it though.

Re womens football. Anyone can look good smashing in great shots. The fundamental difference to the mens game is defending. Basically they are total shite. That's why they get so many goals. Or not, if you're as poor as today's spectacles were.

I've enjoyed watching all the games - in particular the emphasis of all teams to get the ball forward as soon as they have possession. It's a bit of a throwback to how football used to be played.

I'm tired of watching England (men's team) get the ball to the opponent's penalty area and suddenly the ball has been passed all the way back to the England keeper. And we have to start all over again. Quite frankly it's boring.

oddly, I was thinking the opposite today. All too often the ball goes forward and instead of the attacking player looking to make a positive move, they turn back. The Dutch did this loads tonight. Really frustrating and not under the greatest pressure. Much of it was too safe.

In this instance I think it was because in the last 10 minutes it essentially became a Cup game. I'm not up to speed at all on the details and this might be wrong but I think the Swiss needed to score to go through. They certainly seemed to be playing that way and taking a lot of risks (also hadn't they made 5 subs?). They were all set up for attacking, not set up for defending; the Dutch seemed to bring on some very good players, eg 22(?) and others, who were more than capable of taking advantage.

Got tickets for France v Holland. That could be a really good game.
