He was never really given a chance but he was a signing we blatantly didn't need.

Think I mentioned on here a while back that Swindon had a sizeable sell on for Bogle.

So football being dodgy as it is, I can imagine Lowe was added to the deal, his value inflated, Bogle's reduced and United and Derby collectively reducing Swindon's take.

At 15k per week though it wasn't as smart a deal as those involved thought, unless Forest are eating most if not all of his wages and he impresses and potentially raises a decent fee.

If he has a good season at forest he may find himself with a place at United. Stevens isn’t getting any younger and osborn might be deployed further forward it seems. Him and RND as long term options at leftback would seem a pretty healthy situation to be in

That was true from wilder for about 2 minutes - then he pissed an moaned and suddenly we spend 120m and were actively worse than the squad that came up.

we were lucky to get our money back for ramsdale and we won’t see even 50% of the money back from Brewster, berge, mcburnie, moose or Freeman. We’ve already basically given Robinson away….

just a shame him and the recruitment couldn’t see the glaring issues in the squad with thier shit striker and left back fetish ( whilst neglecting literally every other position.)

We’re already on our arse because 70% of the squad are on contracts that make them basically untradable without paying them off.
This is exactly how I feel about the whole recruitment.

Firstly the players we recruited. I mentioned on another thread the goals per minute and for 50m, McBurnie was far worse than Sharp. Mousset was slightly better in the league but worse overall. Brewster I didn't bother with. I appreciate it's nice to have a fixed idea of squad building but this summer has shown that decent loans can be made and if you can't get your first choice targets you don't just go down the list until someone will come with the money you pay secondary. There has to be a cut off where you go - "Oli McBurnie? 12m maybe. 17m rising to 20m? Let's look at loans". Same with Brewster. Loan to buy, definitely. 23m down? Here's me walking.

You also have to question the targets. Losing out to Villa, former European Champions and regular 40k per week gate Villa. That's a lot of history for one 9th place finish to have to redress. If your argument with the Board is "we can't even compete with Villa" then your overall grasp on reality isn't that strong. We certainly far outspent Burnley during the period and they were never in danger.

Secondly the positions. 4 left backs, 6 or 7 strikers, no decent Left Centre Back, no alternative left to replace Lundstram. Yet being not using any foreign loan or your full domestic quota.

When a club comes in with a £20m offer for Lowe, Robinson, Burke & Freeman

Hope he does well for them, it will benefit all parties if he does. A word of caution to the Forest fans, his debut for us against Burnley in the league cup was his best game for us and then his performances declined thereafter l, albeit playing in a poor, struggling side.

Wasn't his debut the game where he got concussed 10 minutes after coming on?

I half watched the second half of the Forest game yesterday and was shocked how good Lowe looked! Looked full of confidence and was constantly taking on and beating his man. If he carries this on all season he could be a great understudy/competition for RND

He definitely did well and was a contender for MOTM for sure. Can't recall him getting tested defensively too much though, but he does look like folk said - athletic and good going forward.

Completely playing Captain Hindsight here, because I expected RND to be much better... but with the way things are panning out, maybe we kept hold of the wrong one.

You could be right but it's good that he's getting minutes after being far down the pecking order. Stevens, RND and Osborn can see things through until January and then maybe a recall will be on the cards.

Key role in the other goal they scored today, probably offering more at this level than either of our left backs currently.
He’s clearly got something about him. A bit like brewster I think we threw him under the bus in some games last season and really knocked his confidence. At least he’s showing signs of recovery lol

The comments on Twitter re: Lowe are overwhelmingly positive.

Anyone know if we have a recall option?

FotMob rank him as the third best performer in The Championship this season averaging 7.85/10 a game.

If he’d played for us at any point this season I imagine you wouldn’t have been particularly happy with it.

I did say he was a good player at this level, he only needed some game time, but that opinion was largely disagreed with.

Agree. I thought he'd be awful. He showed very little to suggest he'd be as good as he seemingly has been for Forest. The cautionary note is that he's playing as a wing back there.

No, the cautionary note is that he’s not currently playing in front of fans who are only willing to give him 10 minutes to prove himself.

Meh. Highly doubt that theory. Most fanbase demographics are largely the same. He played a level up for us, had lots of chances and struggled... badly.
There he obviously had a decent debut and has springboarded from there. If he put in the same showings for Forest as he did ourselves their opinions and patience levels would be nay on identical.
