If they want to keep him then they pay.

I don't personally think he's a world beater but he's by all accounts having a decent season.

You can't say the same for Enda who is clearly on the decline and Norrington-Davies still his faults in his game to iron out, which is fine but if there is a better option then recall him.

With Roma the player and the loaning club wanted him back so it happened. If we express an interest in recalling, then what is Lowe's stance going to be?

Because if Forest are not prepared now to push the boat out on finances when they are relying on him then they aren't going to do that in the summer when they have more time.

He's under contract to us. He needs to know which side his bread is buttered. Plus, I we are recalling him, it is because we think he can do a job in the team.

Stevens, Osborn and RND haven't been able to nail down left-back so it may be worth a punt but I'm more concerned about lack of cover at CB.
Exactly. I'm not even clear where Osborn features now.

If Hecky prefers Hourihane and Norwood as a pairing, he has Fleck now back on the bench. He doesn't really fit amongst the forward players and he's probably 3rd choice left back right now.

He fits nicely in the bracket of players signed by Chris Wilder whose attitude is exemplary but whose ability is not. I'm sure he's a nice lad but he's third choice left-sided central midfielder (behind Hourihane and Fleck), third choice left wing back (behind Stevens and RND) and probably sixth choice wide left forward (behind McGoldrick, Brewster, Gibbs-White, McBurnie and Ndiaye). Waste of a wage and one we should be covertly canvassing offers for.

Ironically, if you decided to play a little fairer with Forest and told them you were taking back Lowe, he's the sort of player you could offer to loan them or get them to just take his contract over.

We wasted some money in the Premier League but I think we got enough out of Osborn at around 3.5m to be fair. He wasn't letting anybody down even though conversely he wasn't raising the overall standard either.

You could lose him and Freeman and not even notice they were gone. Ouch, I know! But true nonetheless.

Osborn's a competent Championship footballer and while he won't be on mega bucks, we're paying him decent money to do bugger all, same as all of Wilder's post-promotion signings. He's never let anyone down when he's played but offers no compelling reason why he should be in the starting XI either and in which position.

He's the definition of a squad player when we desperately need improvements, something we've struggled to get hold of in the past couple of seasons through a combination of having no money and spending what we did have on rubbish and in the wrong positions.

Forest fans love him too after scoring a last minute free kick at Pride Park a few years ago. I doubt they'd object to having him back based on what the Forest fans I know have said about him.

Hecky was talking Osborn up in the paper the other day, whilst Ozzy was saying he wants to stay etc. With our surfeit of left sided players I thought he was certain to move on in the summer. I fear I'm wrong. He's a utility player. If he was right footed you could make a argument for keeping him; with him being left footed I'm not sure you can with us being well stocked already.
For me his best position is LWB. Not good enough on the ball for central midfield, not skillful enough for the left of a front three in a team that has to break teams down ( his main asset is pace).

Nailed it.

Seemingly unmentioned in all of this, but why would Lowe want to come back to us and cut short his loan?

He's getting regular football and by all accounts playing well for a side above us in the league (maybe by virtue of games played). Admittedly not miles away, but hes also from that neck of the woods.

Or he can come back and be fighting amongst RND and Stevens for the LWB slot, not even guaranteed first team football. He'll hardly have fond memories of his time in red and white!

We aint recalling him unless we can get Rhys or Enda off the wage bill. We might see a different situation in the close season although Enda is contracted til Summer 2023.

If we have a recall clause he doesn't have a choice. He's under contract until 2024 with us. It wouldn't be a very good idea to mug us off.

No point to recall unless we have every intention to put him right in the team. No point to persist with his loan though if we are of the view he is better than what we have now. 15k per week is neither here nor there if it makes a difference to getting in the end of season shake up.

Hopefully someone bids for Spence too and Boro sell. Forest would lose both their first choice full backs then!

Get him back. Forest are one of our significant rivals for the playoffs
I’m with you on this. Also, I think it would be worth Hecky having a proper look at him. If he had any issues, I assume it would have been with either/both of the previous 2 managers. Fresh start for player and club if he came back. His time at Forest proves he can play at this level, and unless their fans are lying, he is doing it consistently.

All makes sense to me....in reality he was rubbish in the prem but the champ is much easier...he can’t be any worse that Enda or RND (one being past it whilst the other doesn’t look good enough).
I’m fairly certain that Forest would do the same....they buy him or he comes back

Strange one this. We now have games every 3 days or so, struggling for a squad match day. Have a player on loan doing very well by all accounts in the Chapionship. Still improving and learning his trade. Other teams re call loans if they might be needed. No mention of Lowe by our management as far as I'm aware or press regarding a re call. Did we not put a re call option on the loan, can we not afford to pick his wages back up again. We will know early next week. I would have him back or Forrest buy him as others have said.

The money men are in control and I think Forrest have been cute. Max Lowe starts the season really well with Forrest , he gets injured a month or so before the cut of date before the recall clause can be activated. United think about recall but they choose not to as Forrest are paying his wages . The date of recall passes he miraculously recovers plays a blinder in the next game. Why did we not recall him and monitor his recovery process like Wolves did with MGW.

Wouldn’t surprise me if wolves are paying MGW’s wages while he’s back with their staff.

We would not do that.

Nice theory. If only we could recall him anytime up to the 31st.

hecky is not going to recall him now and juggle three, potentially four left backs if you include Osborne, lumping another £x k back on the wage bill just to hurt Forest.

I do expect him to be practically given away in a transfer over the summer but that is another matter.
