Shit !!!!!
I thought a Premier League club would have come in for him at least.
I mean, we did.

I was hoping it would be a permanent but on reflection the onus is on him now to make it happen and win a contract with Forest (I think Slav has probably already decided on him and thought he wasn't for us so was happy to move him on).

Also if he starts playing well then we have the option to bring him back next season (provided Forest haven't agree a loan with option to buy) or we can try and sell. Another wage off the bill for the season.

I read that Forest had to come back to us with a better financial offer so credit where its due to the negotiating team for that one. They've had enough negative comments so it's only fair to give credit if theyve batted well on a deal for us.

I can just imagine what Slav has seen over the last few weeks and thought "How the fucking hell did this shit play in the Premier League" and "What the hell have I done"

I’m glad we gave the lad plenty of game time to judge whether he’s a good enough player for us ha ha ha ha

Great signing by the blades , good luck

One of the strangest signings under CW’s tenure. He went left back and striker crazy.

I think it was a Buy One Get One Free with Bogle which is why we could afford the 15k wage bill.

FIFTEEN GRAND A WEEK!!! FIFTEEN GRAND A WEEK!!! Now that is fking unbelievable
15 grand after a relegation clause kicked in. If the rumors are true and the clause was 50%, then he was on 30 grand when we signed him in the Premier League.

Fifteen... Fifteen thousand. Fifteen thousand.. a.. week? What the fuck were the board/wilder smoking when the sanctioned this?

Echo everyone's sentiments re the wages...ridiculous ...makes u wonder what the more established players who's contracts were renegotiated are on !!!

People claiming our top earners were on c20k we’re always going to be wrong.

I reckon we had plenty on 50k plus and we are going to be in for a world of pain offloading the deadwood as no one else is going to pay them what we are even after relegation clauses which you hoped we included.

It makes you wonder if to be able to get Bogle relatively cheaply, we had to take Lowe as part of the deal (as there was 'apparently' a large sell on clause between Derby and Swindon his first club). So to get round that Derby insisted that we take Lowe on as well to move him on as they didn't rate him, get his wages off their books (they were potless and still am) and they could attribute some of Bogles true value to the transfer of Lowe so that they get to keep more of the total transfer monies. Lowe of course with his agent then says I want £x or the deal is off and you will have to pay out more to get Bogle. Bit of useful leverage there to get a nice fat weekly wage and an agents transfer cut for the transfer of a relatively poor footballer. It would also explain the large wages we were paying him.

But if course all just pure speculation of course...

We have form with Derby anyway. Remember when we got the great man himself the legend who was Jordan Stewart on silly big wages in exchange of getting shut of the even more expensive Lee Hendre - suited both clubs as both wanted shut of their respective players. Stewart was an appalling player but was paid mega bucks at the Lane just because he had somehow conned Derby previously and Hendre was a disruptive little twat brought in by the alco Uncle Bryan, and Crasse n Blackwell wanted him gone

Christ we've wasted some money over the years.

True Weasey.

Word has it we turned down two packets of out of date cheese & onion crisps and a half eaten choc bar. At least this time we got a whole jar of pickled eggs as well.

If you add up Robinson, Bogle, Burke, Brewster, etc, we absolutely pissed our albeit limited transfer and wage budget up the wall on some right crap.

Makes me wonder what Burke is on as you’d assume he came in with a higher squad status than Lowe also he plays a traditionally more valuable and better payed position. Surely if he goes to boro it has to free up enough space for an incoming keeper it has to.

It’s been reported that a lot of the big earners had relegation release clauses, I expect Lowe didn’t because he had a relatively low salary. Hopefully Burke is the same!

That's got to be bollocks
As Blades we’ve had an obsession or misguided belief that we don’t pay silly wages and that’s what other clubs do. All this has done prove that we are a gullible lot and need to accept that no one has been playing for the love of it for the past two or three years. We’ve spent the cash on property, wages and compo that’s the reality of Wilders reign (or at least the two).

Wishful thinking.

……..ahem…….

“I want us to compete, but I think everybody realises that to compete at the top end is a loss-making exercise. Yes, we could go mad. But then you’re sat here in two years’ time with the club on it’s a*** because of overspend.

That was true from wilder for about 2 minutes - then he pissed an moaned and suddenly we spend 120m and were actively worse than the squad that came up.

we were lucky to get our money back for ramsdale and we won’t see even 50% of the money back from Brewster, berge, mcburnie, moose or Freeman. We’ve already basically given Robinson away….

just a shame him and the recruitment couldn’t see the glaring issues in the squad with thier shit striker and left back fetish ( whilst neglecting literally every other position.)

We’re already on our arse because 70% of the squad are on contracts that make them basically untradable without paying them off.

If be surprised if there are many PL players aged 23 or over on less. I think BT was on more in the championship and that was fifteen years ago. If you go to a chippy and it’s £10 for cod and chips, you can’t say “I’m not paying that because twenty years ago it was a fiver”. You either pay it or you don’t get cod and chips.
If you want PL players you have to pay the going rate, which rises according to quality. You’re not going to get Ronaldo for £30k a week. You’ll get Lowe or someone similar. If you’re lucky you might get a couple who are underrated and undervalued but so many clubs have jumped on the moneyball thing, so many have invested in scouts and data analysists that even that is much harder than it was.

That’s the paradox, we’ve spent a lot of money, but by PL standards, we haven’t. We didn’t have a big wage bill, by PL standards, the overall cost of our squad is low for PL standards. Not every PL club spent as much on transfers as we did, particularly in terms of net spend, but the established clubs had already spent money in previous seasons bringing players in, they already had PL squads. We didn’t, we were playing catch up, trying to drag performances out of players who had to play at their very best every week to be good enough, long enough to be able to bring in better players. That’s the part that was difficult, the bit that failed.
We couldn’t afford established PL players, as they could earn more at more established clubs and moving to us would be a step down. So we had to gamble on championship players who had the potential to step up. They didn’t. When, in our second season we should have been strengthening the areas we hadn’t strengthened the season before, we had to spend more money on forwards because none of McBurnie, Robinson or Moose put in sustained PL performances.

Could we have done better in that respect? Probably but ultimately, if you’re paying bottom end of the PL wages, you tend to only get players the other PL sides don’t want. It’s a competition and richer clubs use their wealth as a weapon, like Villa did with players like Watkins.

We’re looking at a Norwich scenario, go up, don’t have enough money to build a side capable of going up. Go down again. Just like they did last time, because they have the same issue, they don’t have owners who can do what Villa did, spend more than the PL income for two seasons to make sure they stayed up. And with a squad of what is now full of PL players, then can sell their best player knowing it might set them back a bit but it balances the books and they’re still good enough to stay up.

People assume that £15,000 a week is a lot at Championship level. It isn't

Exactly, 15k a week is fucking nothing in the Championship. Look at some of the daft contracts dished out over in S6 over the years.

Hi Stegosaurus here,

How bad must Forest be if they're taking players who can't get in our shitty team?

Two words. Gaetan Bong

Easily in our top 5 worst signings of all time for me. A calamitous gimp of an excuse for a footballer, with 1 decent attribute - he can cross to an OK standard.

Check him out for Crewe's second goal pre-season around 55 seconds.....

.....that's good defending for him.

If Lowes' shite he can't be as shite as super-shite Gaetan.
