If it's a financial organisation can we get chip and pin machines for the bars please. Even Supertram will be contactless soon.

2 things I was mildly impressed with when we went to Hillsborough

- Card machines, made getting served very quick even though it was packed.

- Mobile data was superb

Huawei would be in-keeping with the club’s tradition of throwing a spanner in the works when things are good.

I hope I’m wrong but these things are usually a disappointment. Meaning we’ll end up with Wonga or something crap.

I note from last year’s sponsor news: “Ramsdens has signed an initial six figure one-year term with the option to extend for a further season.”

Presumably we’ve not opted for the further year because we’ve got a bigger deal lined up.

Sponsors of Championship clubs usually have a clause that they can pull out if the club gets promoted to the Premier League.

It's one thing being able to afford a Championship shirt sponsorship but a completely different one to afford a Premier League one.

The largest Championship deal last season (ignoring Chansiri for obvious reasons) was circa £700,000. That's an outlier though, only 2 clubs can command that sort of money. Total guess because I only know the price of a handful of them but I bet the average isn't much more than £100,000.

The smallest Premier League deal was £1.5m but Cardiff got £3m, Burnley £5m, Southampton £6m etc.

Aren't the sponsors meant to be a financial service platform?
More likely to be a bank, credit card company or building society. Personally think it will be an international outfit known globally.

I'm going for American Express or similar :D

Actually, Huawei Finance could just about fit the Innovative Financial Services Platform definition.

“The global financial services industry is facing a new round of technical revolution and industry reform. ... By leveraging innovative financial ICT technologies, Huawei collaborates with industry partners to help financial institutions develop smart finance and accelerate comprehensive digital transformation.”

I genuinely thought the euphoria would last seven days before we got back to normal.

Yep mid cheer 2 seasons ago when it was leaked we were resigning a certain striker, after all the fuss had died down too.

Asked a friend that works in financial services innovation – she suggested Alipay or WePay were the most likely based on the description in the club’s statement.

WiKI description below - wow, massive doesn't come close if it's part of the Alibaba Group

Alipay is a third-party mobile and online payment platform, established in Hangzhou, China in February 2004 by Alibaba Group and its founder Jack Ma. In 2015, Alipay moved its headquarters to Pudong, Shanghai, although its parent company Ant Financial remains Hangzhou-based.

UTB

Could just be the sleeve sponsor that Premier League clubs have?

I reckon it's HSBC

Not a coincidence that they're building a new office just down the road
They'll be the 'official banking partner' if nothing else.

In the prem, you need an official partner for just about everything.
'Unibond - official adhesive supplier of SUFC'

Wasn’t aware of the new HSBC offices opening in Sheffield in the summer. Would be a logical tie-in for it to be them then – not sure they’ve sponsored anything in football before either.

Pretty sure i heard the Prince can/has vetoed sponsors in the psst due to religious beliefs.

Banks that charge interest are a form of gambling...

Bring on the Islamic bank of Saudi

Most Saudi banks are actually affiliates of Global banks.

Saudi British Bank is HSBC
Saudi Hollandi is ABN Amro

I think the only local banks are NCB and Al Rahji

..in front of O/S waiting for "Watch This Space" to do something. But nothing has happened.

Won't be too long I wouldn't think.

They've been planning/building that office for the best part of 4 years...AND NOW they jump on the bandwagon.

Doesn't the attendance now get sponsored by someone, or have I imagined that?

I can never understand why you'd want to sponsor something so inane. If I had my own business I wouldn't embarrass myself.

It's highly likely that we'll get bummed by the PL big boys, so we're probably going to need an official lube.

Anything above 5-0 just means they've gone in dry.

"That throw in, in the third minute, was sponsored by Maxters Auctions, for charidee, not spending money"
