Pitch invasion - club say to stay off pitch

But remember, L**ds are shit. They might have a lot of shots (139 in the last 6 games), but they can barely only got 24% on target (34 in the last 6 games). Of those they actually get on target, they have only scored 21% (5 goals in the last 6 games). If you work the figures in the opposite direction and they need 6 goals, it means they'd need 167 shots on target against Ipswich, just under 2 shots per minute. I'll grant you,if there are several minutes of injury time, the rate starts to drop. I know it's foolish, but I'm mildly confident.
Yeah, provided we win I don't think Leeds will do it either. I'm just pointing out that it isn't as impossible as some seem to be saying. Although Leeds have missed all those chances in recent matches, it at least shows they can create them. Against Ipswich in a do-or-die situation, I wouldn't want to rely on them having the same convertion rate.

As for going on the pitch, well, I did at the end of the game at Leicester. In European mode, I generally do at the end of every season because it's part of the celebration. It's not feared or outlawed. The same in England, it was part of the end of the season whether there was something to celebrate or not.

There are plenty of comments along the lines of "celebrate in the stands, what's wrong with that?" and sure, I'd be expecting that as how I'd celebrate, but I'd also ask the question of "what's wrong with celebrating on the pitch?" Why is it really an issue?

Times have changed, people have to accept that. This season we had a fan run on and attack a player. As long as things like that happen, as long as football fans continue to act like knobs, the authorities will clamp down on things like pitch invasions.

Lap of honour, players into directors box and fans invaded onto pitch, players join in if they wish.

Whatever happens everyone have a brill day.

Those that brush off the illegality of invading the pitch as an irrelevance are probably the types who use their phones while driving. A minority where one is too many and one alone is enough to be very dangerous.

I pay my money to watch Sheffield United, not some buffoons desperate to get on the pitch and then have no idea why they are there.

If there’s a pitch invasion I would want Wilder on the mic telling these idiots that the players aren’t coming back out, they’ve ruined it, sod off home.
Except the consequence of pitch invading isn't the death of innocents, ffs...

'and then have no idea why they are there'

If I invade the pitch, it is to celebrate with the players, I know why I'm there. It's the same as players running to the crowd when they score.

So there are knobs, and they carry the main responsibility for the loss of the end of season celebration, but it's also the classification of it as a pitch invasion which is a part of the problem.
If it was an accepted part of the end-of-season celebration, it wouldn't be a problem. OK, the potential for some cock to go think it's funny to gesture at the opposition fans, but that's actually easier to stop than to stop 3 sides of the ground going on the pitch. Just think they* are going about things the wrong way.

Keep it as a criminal offence until the refereeing team has left the pitch. Refereeing team has obligation to ensure away players are off the pitch.

Despite my slightly made up maths about L**ds being shit and having no chance of catching us, I wouldn't be celebrating because nothing will have been secured...although maybe if we bag 5, my confidence will start to grow.

I see Bolton's game was cancelled, and sure there is a thread somewhere, but if their results are shredded, we've lost 3 goals on Leeds.

* whoever 'they' happens to be

If we win, it's happening.
No one will die, no one will be injured, no missiles will be thrown, nobody will charge towards the Ipswich fans and nobody will attack Ipswich players.
After all the shit our fans have been through, If we win, it's happening, simple as that, now get over it and stop your whining

I agree, as you'll see in a couple of posts I've made above about the difference between a pitch invasion and fans going onto the pitch at the end. I don't know what the definition is in law, but in my view the oppo players and ref have to be in and safe. Too many nutters around.

I did take the liberty of skipping from page 3 of this thread to the last page. Just filling time, innit? Hope all good up there Ham. First thing to do is to actually see if we can win today!

If they do manage to better our GD - should we demand and EFL inquiry?

There are some proper arrogant self-serving cunts (ASFC). in our support, some of whom have happily drawn attention to their arrogant self-serving cuntishness on this thread. Mercifully, despite their ridiculous bluster (typical for arrogant, self-serving cunts) barely one of them made it onto the pitch today.

Memo to ASFC: pls stop instructing the rest of us on how we should behave!

Anyone here likely to proudly admit to being one of the few sad entitled walking abortions that got a proper round of fucks for waddling on to the pitch at full time? Don't be shy you were full of wind and piss before the game.

just to point something out
the OP was advocating a pitch ‘invasion’.. a few overexcited knobs isn’t a pitch invasion
and is acceptable

I think in the end the whole thing seemed a bit flat. What did we do? Clap the players off. Basically what we do every home game. If we was on the pitch the party atmosphere would of lasted longer and felt like a more special occasion.

It didn't seem very flat where I was.

So breaking the law is ok as long as innocent people don’t die?

We showed class as fans today and respected the Club, Manager and players wishes with the exception of 30 or so chavs who embarrassed themselves. The Players were able to bring on their families and enjoy the occasion rather than be prevented from doing so by wannabes desperate for a selfie.

I'm sure Oli Norwood and his partner will remember their little lad with his number 16 shirt on being cheered by the fans as he ran with the ball in front of the South Stand. Thats the type of memory that will make players want to put the shirt on and be part of what has been built here.

Well done Blades.

Doubt it, they don't want identity themselves and get a ban do they
