We need to give him a chance playing two up front. I don't think he's been given the service, and I suspect if he joins Stoke we could regret it.

In the 1336 minutes Tom Cannon has been on the pitch for us since he joined in January 2025, we've collectively scored 14 goals. That's 1 goal per 95.4 minutes.

Nice to see him get on the scoresheet today, from outside the box too! Should have had two. Hopefully he goes on to some better form than Brewster did after his Hillsborough goal last season.

Start him against Portsmouth. Give him a chance to show us what he can do and build up his confidence.

I can see it happening, but if he reverts to type we can't just keep persisting indefinitely like we did with Brewster after his derby winner.

Exactly this.

Both of their goals scrubbed a lot of bad blood, but that didn't magically make Rhian Brewster a great footballer and it very likely won't with Tom Cannon either.

If Wilder gives him a chance against Portsmouth, then I'm all for it. Another relatively poor side and another decent chance to get on the scoresheet, build some confidence and put a run together.

If he puts in his usual level of performance, a surprisingly sharp looking Bamford looks ready to step in and take his place. That's that until he earns another opportunity.

That negative goal difference is really coming down now. Trying not to get carried away given the quality of the opposition today and on Sunday but the tables look to be turning.

He were oreyt tonight apart from that one that whizzed across the box, went straight through him and hit their defender

He looked like quite a dangerous forward tonight. Lots of little runs into space forcing defenders to go with him. 1 good pass from midfield & he’s in. Few nice touches tonight, almost put O’Hare in on goal (decent defending tbf) and could have bagged himself.

Some green shoots IMO. More of the same please Thomas!

Very peculiar how when he comes on as a substitute and doesn't score the thread is updated instantly.

When he scores there's no update at all.

Call me suspicious if you want but it seems like a certain poster was trying to make a scapegoat out of this young man.

Hmmmm.

Fucking gu on lad.
Its astonishing that a bloke who until he joined us thrived on a 2 up front has, since he joined us, looked better when played as part of a 2 up front.

I didn't see the match so can't comment on his performance but great to see him score his second of the season so soon after the derby goal. Can't imagine he'd have found some form without the help of this thread to spur him on, so you're all very welcome.

Looks like Cannon will be warming the bench a while longer since Bamford has hit the ground running.

Just another in the long line of players people will say ‘look he’s finally getting good’ just because their previous appearances were so so bad.

He’s been better than awful but still such a nothing of a striker. An old crocked Bamford really shows up how average this guy is - argue amongst yourselves but he ain’t it lads sorry.

I'm sorry but I'm not a cannon fan zero composure and awareness, his 3 goals have been 2 head down blasts and a deflection, trying to shoot through players, when do you see him open up his body to place it in the corner? I hope he proves me wrong but i just can't see it but wilder believes in him so we'll just have to wait and see
