Why though? If we win on Saturday, WE ARE NOT PROMOTED.
You are potentially running on the pitch to celebrate finishing 3rd place, and the Play-Offs to come.
If we win on Saturday, we are promoted.
We're not though are we. Our opportunities to be promoted are from Sunday onwards.
No Ps on the table for us until Villa Leeds at the earliest, and no Ps at all until after Norwich play Blackburn and that one will be for Norwich.
Yeah yeah goal difference but by all official "you will be in the Premier League next season" accounts, we won't be.
I think the players DESERVE the lap of honour that a pitch invasion would put in jeopardy
Decent return on a bang average post![]()
You can't just chuck 'self centered' and 'selfish' out without justifying it.You can’t escape the fact that we will not have a P next to our name on the league table no matter how much you want to “invade” the pitch. Personally I would like to stand and applaud the heroes in red and white and all the staff. I don’t want to watch a bunch of self centred arseholes run around like morons at the end of our final home game, of what has been a fantastic season.
I know that won’t stop people going on the pitch but that’s just my point isn’t it? It has to be all about them. Selfish twats.
When has the lap of honour ever been abandoned because of a pitch invasion? Can't be arsed to read through 10 pages but anyone who goes on the pitch after the game on Saturday is a fucking arsehole. We can't confirm promotion so there'll be nothing to celebrate and the squad fully deserves the lap of honour.
When has a pitch invasion ever prevented a lap of honour afterwards. I remember the Stevenage pitch invasion, the players went back in and came out 10mins later.Someone on social media made a good point in that for certain players it will be their last game for us at Bramall Lane whether we are promoted or not. Should we not let them do the lap of honour to receive the appreciation and thanks for their efforts this season, thinking here about the loan players who will be going back to their clubs in a few weeks none more so than Deano. Let them do a lap of honour then if the fans are wanted on the pitch I would imagine the club would invite them on when the players are safely in the stand behind the dug outs.
We need Pinchy to remind us all that a better goal difference is not worth a point...If we win on Saturday, we are promoted.
I remember a lap of honour that didn't get very far as it was mobbed in front of the Kop and didn't get to us. Having stayed behind and waited an age, it was disappointing for me and those around me in the South Stand. We are talking at least 20 years ago, so I couldn't tell you what year. When has the lap of honour ever been abandoned because of a pitch invasion?
Still not got an answer to this in 10 pages.
Finally an answer!I remember a lap of honour that didn't get very far as it was mobbed in front of the Kop and didn't get to us. When have players ever got injured being hugged? They're grown men and athletes ffs they jump on each other when they score!
Andy Linighan?? #OH ANDY ANDY, ANDY ANDY ANDY LINIGHAN!!!
Perhaps so, in that case I wouldn't encourage it to be honest. I'm assuming that if we're in a leading position with a few minutes remaining Sinclair will announce to refrain from running into the pitch. I doubt there will be thousands taking part if that's the case (hopefully).I'm guessing the reluctance to encourage an invasion is because it could put the lap of honour in doubt,?
When we got promoted from the third division in 88/89 I seem to recall the players all came out in the directors box in South stand and we were all on the pitch.... got a picture of it somewhere.... I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure they announced players would be in there so seemed natural for fans to be on pitch. I’m guessing we would risk damaging the desso doing that now, but it would allow some recognition of players efforts this season without them getting mobbed on the pitch and all ending in chaos and booing......

Club don't want it, EFL sending out warnings about pitch invasions. Don't give the authorities any excuses stay off the pitch and respect the Clubs wishes.
Yep, players were defo in the Directors Box post Swansea, I remember Pikey giving it the big un.81/82 we did after promotion against Peterborough.
Remember going on the pitch after sticking 5 past Swansea in 89 but not sure if players were in directors box. Could have been.
They did. The picture of the crowd is on the back of the “first 100 years” book. With a magnifying glass I can see myself waving one of those inflatable cutlasses they had then.
