Fair point ….. but McCabe's taking us nowhere as he hasn't got / isn't prepared to commit the money that we need to move to the next level …….

Fulham have spent 100 million in the summer, that is just the transfer fees. God knows what the wage bill over the contract length will be.

The next level - whoopeeeeeee.

2 wins out of 17 games - the next level, the promised land.

Chansiri's track record at the Sty is being held up as a favourable comparison to McCabes tenure at the lane ? Am I having a ' whoosh ' moment here ?

Which clown said KM had overseen the worst period in Our history ffs?
I can only assume hes either/ or not very old, or very bright.

The worse period in our history was the 10 year period starting with the tailspin from the premiership into L1 where we spent 6 years which even the crooks in charge through the 80s & 90s didn't quite manage. In the process he appointed a succession of managers including Robson, Blackwell, Adams, Weir and Adkins. Every player we've had of any note has been sold. He royally fucked up the PR over Ched and managed to blow the Tevez money and parachute payments from the prem in one season. To cap it all he signed a partnership with the Prince which leaves us in a situation which resembles Teresa May and Brexit. He managed to fluke the Wilder appointment and is riding a mini wave of success which is not going to last unless he gives him some backing.

So to answer your question I'm quite old and bright enough to see through the facade.

You forgot Nigel Clough and the FA cup semi final. :)

Read the recent thread about Clough. He wasn't very popular either.

Edit: If he was so great maybe you could explain why McCabe fired him. Not to mention the cost of doing so.

Way I see it they have four options right now:

1. They stick with Jos. They stick with the Chairman's mantra they will not get relegated. They sleepwalk to relegation and find themselves on Netflix next season!

2. They go all WAWAW and try to stay up on chest thumping alone by appointing some combination of Sgt Wilko, Meggo and Bullo.

3. They appoint someone who has a good record of not going down. Someone like Allardyce possibly or even Clough. The latter would seem to blossom in situations of anything other than bottom three being a success. Yes, he got relegated with Burton but they were always hugely odds on resource-wise.

4. They appoint another left-field foreigner and cross their fingers!

Either way, I don't see how they manage the P&S issue without gambling on being able to manage a January firesale and also staying up. Otherwise they will have the same problems next season.

If they haven't sold two of Bannon, Reach, Joao, Forestieri or Rhodes, then they will not have done enough and I don't see how else they can raise money. Forestieri is a tricky one, because good player that he is, he's a crock. You won't get 8 figures for someone who is available less than 50% of the time.

Their other players are not going to raise much because they are deemed as not wanted. As ostracize Abdi, Boyd, Hutchinson, Westwood and Jones, they may as well give them away to get their wages gone if they won't get picked.

The other saleable players are so injury prone in recent times - Lee, Hooper, Winnall - nobody in their right mind will touch them in January.

That just leaves you kids, average Joes and loan players.

It will certainly be an interesting next 42 days for them, though probably not for the right reasons from their side.

The worst period in our history was when we dropped down to the 3rd tier, then the 4th tier under Peters. OK we went straight back up to the third tier, then to the 2nd, then back down to the 3rd before Sir Dave Basset came along. That's arguably worse than our more recent seasons in the 3rd, that also included a play off final, two play off semi finals, and two cup semi finals in five years before pissing the league under Wilder

My memories are fading now, but I have vague memories/nightmares of Harry Haslam/Danny Begara/Martin Peters as being the worst, interspersed with such depressing notables as Billy Mc'Ewan.

He had a similar binge when he appointed Robson and blew the Tevez and parachute money. Using Chasiri's incompetence to big up McCabe is not exactly the best comparator for the chaiman who has overseen the worst period in our history. Who needs enemies when he's got friends like you?
I said at the time Warnock went, IF Kevin Keegan was interested he would have been the best choice for us. Some managerial history with Fulham, Citeh and of course Newcastle. Localish lad too.
He would have spunked similar amounts of money, but on the correct signings. I feel sure we would have gone on another white knuckle ride and loved every minute. Every chance we'd have gone back up that season or one after, thus allowing him to blow a gasket and leave.

Ah well !

I just love how all the failed managers we've had under McCabe are his bad decisions but Wilder is just him being lucky. I don't seem to remember many complaints at the appointments of Adkins and Clough, he's not perfect and made many mistakes but we'd never be in the state the pigs are in with him in charge.

Just because someone has done it worse doesn’t make McCabes poor effort of running United good !

It was grim, Spartan stuff. The more recent downtimes have been sprinkled with Wembley trips and big cup games, back then it was just a drudging monotony of mediocrity. Still, we then had the Heath years!

Only miserable on one subject mate , he still boils my piss.

I ask for action man dolls and Mickey mouse watch.
Instead I get cowboy outfit and NO Mickey mouse watch.

Worst birthday - EVER !
why who bought you a cowboy outfit like Sheffield :DWednesday

Morning!

How's that list coming along of all the billionaires who wanted to save us in 2000, when McCabe sharp elbowed his way to the front of the queue?

Need a bit more time to finish It?

I don't know and neither do you. There's another 91 clubs in the leagues at any one time who go through the same predicament and history shows that not many have been liquidated so a calculated guess tells me we'd still be here now.

That's okay then.

No need for any thanks to KM and you can carry on reviling the bloke for the 'worst ever period in our history' or whatever you called it.

I'll thank him when thanks me for standing by the club during this period. Both are nonsensical, you pays your money and you takes your choice.
