I stayed in Vilamoura a couple of times on golf trips. Not far from Albufeira.

Just booked a flights from Leeds Bradford, fly out early on the 12th, back late on the 13th.

Not got anything else sorted yet, don’t even know who else is going but fuck it, it will be a blast.

United will once again play in Europe this summer, as part of preparations for the 2018/19 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

On Thursday 12th July, the Blades will face Portuguese top flight outfit Maritimo at the 2,000-capacity Estádio Municipal da Bela Vista, which is located in the Parchal region of the Algarve. The kick-off time for the friendly is 7pm local time.

Maritimo, who finished seventh in Primeira Liga last season, currently have a number of Brazilians as part of their playing squad.

Ticket information for the game will follow in due course.

I always like a proper bed to get my head down after a proper days boozing, as I’m sure I’ll get something cheap and cheerful for the night. I’m waiting on a few mates to give it the green light and I’ll probably book something with them.

I didn’t even wait for the green light off the missus, I’d booked it last night and then turned round to her whilst she watched some of her crap in bed on telly, and said guess what, I’ve just booked flights to go and watch the Blades in Portugal. She knows me well enough to know that I’m independent and free spirited enough to decide to take myself off on random adventures at the drop of a hat, and she has got a Theatre weekend to look forward to with me in the autumn as well so she is happy for me.

The issue is that we are in the Algarve in late June and then again in early August. So school, finances, childcare and work all have to be sorted too.

I looked at flights from East Midlands last night, it was £65 return flying out monday and returning on Friday, also found a cheap hostel in Albufeira for £80 for the 4 nights. £145 is not bad for the 4 nights. There was no chance convincing the Mrs though, got a stag do in Budapest the following week so it pretty much got laughed at.

If you are flying into Faro, an option is to catch a taxi to Faro railway station, then train it to Portimao. 1hr 20 at 6 euros each way.
