See i did wonder about Evans and where he would play but didn’t have him down as a fit for Duffy. I must admit to knowing very little about him
I don't know that they will definitely fit in the exact roles of Duffy etc, but if you saw the post from Bergen Blade after Ipswich it gives an indication on the flexibility in the side

Really pleased with the signings we've made. Think we'll step it up to the next level now and hopefully reach the play offs.

3 great bits of business and full marks to the board for making the funds available.

Whiteman must be going and Barham won't have to play out of position any more.

Yep. Really happy with the transfer window so far. As long we don't ship anyone out (and not replace them) full credit has to go to the board for backing the manager.

Still think we could do with at least one more, maybe someone who can cover both wing-back positions?

The three signings have at worst added required depth to the squad, which has probably been needed since season start. For that i am grateful. Personally, i would love to see a young powerful pacey forward brought in to offer something a little different. That might happen with Cole or it may not be how CW wants to play the game. I appreciate he's 25 and on more money than we can afford, but I was reasonably impressed by Dicko when he came on against us for Hull. Someone to move the CB's about, exploit the gaps between CB's & FB's and run the channels.

Great signings by Wilder in terms of the right age, their reputation at previous clubs and their desire to prove themselves at a high level - in terms of Evans and Leonard. Wilder backed by the board? Yes but not as much as he could have being and no more than I would expect given our current standing in the league and a genuine chance of automatic promotion. I would have loved us to get a fast forward from League One like Marriot but he will go to Leeds by the looks of it.

I didn't realise the transfer window had closed! Blimey, that was quick!

Leonard (25 year old) - 3 1/2 year deal
Evans (23 year old) - 3 1/2 year deal
Wilson (22 year old) - Loan

We'll probably flog the family silver now, but these three are all young, pacey and exciting players.

Can't say that we've not added to what we have already.

What else do we need?
I want an umpalumpa, and I want one now

True, but I would guess we aren't going for Marriot. To be fair, Wilson looks a good player and he could be amazing.

As you say, you would have loved Marriot from League 1............

But we got James Wilson from Man U..........

Wilder out!;)

How do you know that Marriott fits WILDERS criteria though?
These guys have obviously passed the CW character test :)

There will also be agents fees on top of that.

The "wheres the semi final muneh McCabe" brigade forget about stuff like that.

Taking wages, look at an 'average' salary of say £8k per week.
x 52 weeks x 3.5 years and add employer's NI @ 13.8% = £ 1.7m.

There are also compulsory pension payments too, but I have no idea at what level these are set.

So a 'modest' £700k fee could be close to a £1m with agents fees and the ongoing wages are £1.7m.

Does that count as 'investement' or is McCabe still milking us?

Its not Wilder that I've ever had an issue with mate. Its the board but to be fair, they've backed him more than we thought from Wilders interview in December when it seemed like we were set for 1 permanent - Leonard - and some Premier League loans which can go either way. Wilson is as good as we could expect and credit to Wilder for getting him and fair play to the board for putting up the money.

I don't mate, I'm saying I'd prefer Marriot but that's my choice and we'll never know if Wilder was or will be interested. The money required to get Marriot is likely to be out of our range but Wilson is a decent loan.

Maybe you should moan about not having anything to moan about, Bob mi old.;)

Except Wilder never said 1 permanent,3 loans,Giddings got that wrong,it was pointed out at the time

Is that £8k a week each Simon? :)

Indeed.

I am currently acting on behalf of a Championship club who are taking an absolute kicking from HMRC. One of the many points at issue (involving whether or not the player should be taxed on it) is a payment of £380,000 to an agent for negotiating the release of a player from his contract. Said player then immediately signed a contract with another club, literally the following day. The agent will also have received a fee from that club. Sickening, really.

So this was just a bit of friendly mischief then ;)

Lol! I'm saying that I'd like Marriot. I'm also saying that I don't think Wilder has been backed anymore than I would expect, but Wilder's done very well to bring in who he has. I doubt we have the budget for a permanent signing like Marriot and i would have loved us to get him but who knows, Wilder may have wanted Wilson above anyone, but Wilder did say he couldn't do many permanent deals because the budget isn't high enough.

Happy with these.

My thoughts now are we might be selling some which if it’s Whiteman or any other fringe squad players wouldn’t bother me.
