Another good name would be Lewis Grabban who is proven at this level and is available. He would be quality. I'm not saying Marriott is worth 3 million but if we got Marriott I think he would be a fantastic addition for now and beyond.

Do you not think coming from a Premier League club,Grabbans weekly wage might be a problem, that is if we could afford the transfer fee?

Methinks you are plucking names out of a hat in order to carry on with your Wilders not being backed agenda

I'm of the opinion that what's"enough" for some of our fane base is based on money they continually say the owners don't have but they want them to spend that if they had the owners assets they would gladly take on the risk. Ahem.....

I blame Football Manager where the only risk is breaking your controller in a tantrum when the Crewe team you're managing in L2 loses out on Messi.

I'm not saying we should spend silly money Sean, I've expressed my views and you've read them and know I'm not saying lets do a Derby, Wolves or Wednesday. We can't afford that, and it can go either way. However I believe we could have got Ricky Holmes in the summer and Leonard and we'd be higher than we are now. This window we've signed two very good players on paper and a decent loan signing but its clear from Wilders comments that we have a low budget, as expressed by many people, not just fans. I think if we'd gone for a couple of proven players now that it would be money well spent. I've said my views, you, Fred and LJ Blade said there's fair enough, there's nothing more to say.

Wilson came from a Premier League club and Man U to be fair. Yes he's a under 23 player but he's a well known one and is likely to be on wages higher than ours too.

I’m happy to see us spend modest amounts on young hungry players than spend millions on a name and a reputation.

Its a good point and I agree totally with that. I'm not saying lets flood the team with players near 30 or over it.

How much do you think Geabban would cost us?

But you threw Grabbans name into the ring..

Wilson is on loan,no idea about his wages or who pays what percentage, but it's not a £3 million pound commitment like you are asking for with Marriott.

I would wager if we had signed Marriott, you would have said we should have signed Wilson

I was asked by Fred to mention names that I believe would cost us more than the board are willing to pay for but are not bank breakers and I think would significantly improve us. Yes Grabban is on more money than we have, I can't prove we can afford him but I would bet that he goes to one of our rivals and scores goals as he has done this season for Sunderland. For the record I think we'll push top 2 this season, and really give it a go. We've got a god team, amazing manager, great policy in signing hungry players and generally young which is the way to go. I'm just saying and have done from the first post last week that I believe the board could have backed him more and spent a few million more rather than Wilder having to squeeze what he can out of the budget, which is small by Championship standards.

Next season they'll be relegated teams with their parachute money, plus the teams already here with parachute money and I think the league this season isn't anything special, bar Wolves. This could well prove to be our best chance of promotion, without expectations, which is a massive bonus too.

Which teams do you think Wilder’s budget is comparable to this year?

No I wouldn't Fred, but I get your views. We disagree but we're all Blades and we all want the best for the club. We see this differently but I still really like McCabe and the Prince for that matter, I think we're in very good hands, albeit slightly shorter arms than I would like.

Ain't got a clue,I'm sure you will be able to tell me though

You appear quite opinionated and vocal on this matter...I had assumed you might have an actual clue as to what you’re talking about.

Have you ever stopped to consider we don't actually have this money you keep saying you feel we should have backed him with?

Because that really should be the starting point of any discussion about who we "should" buy.

So you don't know either,

Never claimed to know...and I’m not the bloke mouthing off at people every time someone talks about money.

I’d guess from our transfers so far and the fact that we came up from L1 with a reduced wage bill of around £5 million that we’re at the lower end of the spectrum...do you disagree?

Do you think we should spend £3 million this January on Jack Marriott?

No.

Do you disagree with my statement above about Wilder’s budget being at the lower end of the Championship?

There are relegated teams with parachute payments every season. Thats how it works.

Seeing as I'm arguing against us spending £3 million pound on Marriott, not paying Grabbans high wages, what do you think?

Just answered that above.
In your own time....

P.S- It was the bit spelt ‘N.O’

The three signings have at worst added required depth to the squad, which has probably been needed since season start. For that i am grateful. Personally, i would love to see a young powerful pacey forward brought in to offer something a little different. That might happen with Cole or it may not be how CW wants to play the game. I appreciate he's 25 and on more money than we can afford, but I was reasonably impressed by Dicko when he came on against us for Hull. Someone to move the CB's about, exploit the gaps between CB's & FB's and run the channels.

Edit. I'd obviously got James Wilson confused with someone else, possibly Will Keane? I thought he was more a slower 'link' forward, through whom things got played. I've just seen a youtube video of him and he can do 40m in 5secs which is quick.

can’t understand the hate for Brayford.. he was a ray of hope in the darkness until he got injured
No hate but he cost over a million quid which the OP said we haven't spent for years.

The way this old caveat is bandied about you'd think the whole EFL 72 was on them. Except us of course.

And I have just answered your question,I'm sure you are trying to make a point ,you need to get round to it,because I'm off to bed shortly ,whenever you're ready

So in your own words you ‘Ain't got a clue’ what Wilder’s budget is (and don’t care to speculate) and yet time and time again you’re berating people who do like to speculate on that budget and whether Wilder should have more financial backing this season.

Very odd.

P.S- I asked you if you disagreed with my statement...I understood your answer.

Leonard (25 year old) - 3 1/2 year deal
Evans (23 year old) - 3 1/2 year deal
Wilson (22 year old) - Loan

We'll probably flog the family silver now, but these three are all young, pacey and exciting players.

Can't say that we've not added to what we have already.

What else do we need?

Luck. Just luck!
