We pay rent?

So we pay the tenancy agreement every week?
What if the rent goes up and we can't afford to pay it?
Who's in charge of this and more importantly, who signed us up?
What's the rent per week or is it a monthly DD?

In a way, you me and many others are now Rent Boys?
I don't know. But I believe the accounts show we have paid rent. The split of the club was done before Poundland got involved, as far as I recall, so KM was 'in charge' of this.

I'm afraid I haven't seen the lease so I can't comment on the particulars. I doubt it's filed at the Land Registry but you can have a look. They're on line.

Lower the pitch maintenance costs year in year out?
In what way? Have we reduced the number of groundsman? How much does it cost to maintain the pitch now as opposed to when it was a muddy field?
I understand the benefits but I'm not convinced the timing was correct, given we had more important priorities.
I think the only argument that stands up is that it probably makes no difference as Clough would have spent the money on three players in positions where we were already strong and Adkins would have just wasted it on shit.

Just a thought. No evidence as the accounts don't show a breakdown but I would be surprised if it didn't lead to a lowering of costs. It's a common sense approach I'd say.

Well my idea of common sense would be to spend our money on getting promoted first but it's not the biggest mistake we've made by a long way so I'll agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Obviously. I'm not saying it should be a priority but didn't it happen because of the unexpected cup money rather than out of the planned budget? That's how Jim spun it anyway.

The common sense comment related to buying a pitch that did reduce costs as opposed to not doing so. But this is United....

Lower the maintenance fees at BDTBL even more and sack all the ground staff and make it part of the player's contracts that they have to :-

  • mark out the pitch before every home game
  • subs at half time have to replace divots
  • those not in the starting squad become matchday programme sales
  • goalkeepers to help put nets up, tallest player carries shortest on shoulders
  • etc etc etc

Thanks to William Henry Foulkes for the bullet point influence. Sorely missed.

And don't forget to pay your subs.

I'm guessing these two deals are done then...nice PR to have 'Wilder Wants New Additions' on front page of OS on the Thursday then they're announced the next day, efficient... :)

I think (but I could well be wrong on this) that the pitch was bought in the year where the prince pumped quite a bit of money in as “turnover” meaning we could spend 65% of football staff.

Therefore, the money spent on the pitch couldn’t be spent on players so it was a case of “might as well improve the pitch” especially given that we’d ended up with quite a few rearranged fixtures the season before due to waterlogging.

Like I say, I’m not certain but think that’s what happened.

65% on wage bill isn't it?

Yet we apparently have the best finisher in the division in Sharp.....though for some reason he's not been at the races and looked a little off the pace.
Just bought Clarke who's generally good for 15-20 a season.
McNulty has been described as the best natural finisher st the club, while Done was bought to put the ball in the net after showing a nack for being in the right place to put the ball in the net.

So for me, we don't need a striker. We need someone who can beat a man, run at teams and open them up when they sit deep. For too long we've not had this and it's cost us. Even Murphy was better when he had space to run with it rather than beating players in the final third.

So pace and skills.....midfield goalscorer....Centre half. Get those three signings right, keep them all fit and we win the league. Simples

Absolutely agree. We need a goalscoring midfielder and a Centre Half but s many people have said, we need pace in all areas of the pitch. It was Pompey this time last season who got up everyone's noses by harping on about the need for a Centre Half or three but was proven to be spot on. In the same vein that's how I feel about pace. We've had 2 previous managers who've left us with the most pedestrian set of athletes in the top 4 divisions and didn't address the lack of pace during their time. CW has had the summer and has made a number of signings most of who look OK or better - but he's not picked up on the lack of pace either. It needs addressing and needs addressing quickly otherwise teams will work us out very quickly and will counter us, and we'll have nothing different to put on the pitch to change anything.
